Could this b the problem? Plz Help :(

    hey guys,

I got a CEL last week (which i tought was caused by grinding the gears) so i got my car scanned and it said that the 'system is runing too lean', so the mechanic told me that there could be a leak somewhere in the vacuum line.

anyway, i took a look at my engine today and saw this small hole in a small line in the front of the engine.

Can i replace this thing myself? or do i have to take it to the mechanic. and if i can replace it myself, what is the part number i got to get from audi.

also, what are the odds of this hole not being the only leak... and my problems not getting fixed by changing this line. is there a way for me to check?

    any help is greatly appreciated.

Any pice of vaccuum hose will do. You dont necessarily need to get the exact part number...(hell the dealer would probably just cut you off a piece anyways)

In all honesty I personally would just wrap it up with black duct tape or just cut it in hap and put a fitting in there to join them together.

That' line's done. I'd probably think about replacing all the vacuum lines with quality silicone hoses. Just keep 'em black please ;)

Re: Could this b the problem? Plz Help :(

    hey.

so i bought the hose, and installed it myself. but the problem was i couldnt get that ring to go fully in (pictures at the bottom). I just wanted to know if i should just leave it as it is, or try to somehow jam that ring to go all the way back.

Also, i started driving it around for a while, and the CEL is still on... does this mean that theres still a problem with the car, or does that always stay there until u get it reset?

    Thanks

stay away from those one time clamps! it should be sitting on the fitting that comes out of the manifold! but other than that u should be fine and the CEL must be cleared with a scanner if u don't have one it's clear by itself after about 50 miles!

That doesn't appear to be on all the way, if you couldn't tell. That is a one time use clamp. I would buy some new re-usable ones like someone stated above to secure that properly.

Damn, either you have a really dirty engine or mine is SUPER clean. If you fixed the problem then the cel should go away after a few engine cycles.
