Why is this car so hard to find!?!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I've been looking around for a 2001.5 or 2002 manual b5 s4 for under 20k with reasonable mileage, and it's been a big hassle, especially when trying to find white or nogaro, I'm honestly considering red at this point, lol, yellows a bit flashy, the a6 i have now is silver, and im not sure im feeling the black. Anyone know a good resource to find these for sale other than autotrader or cars.com? Also, if you wanna post pics of ur cars to help me get an idea of what color and stuff I want, that'd be awesome :)

    PS: X-post from AW

you want the two most sought after colors with low mileage and cheap LOL

As an owner of a car that fits the criteria, as the other cars go up in mileage, mine is definitely not getting any cheaper.

When I was looking for one, I found nothing but Nogaros and Silver s4s. I found mine on craigslist.

In fact, I used http://www.crazedlist.org - Lets you search multiple areas at once.

^look a few posts up...someone already posted that same car

To the OP, I decided that I wanted to get a B5 S4 when I was a sophomore in college. I wouldn't settle for anything other than Pearl or Casa with the timing belt already swapped out and pure stock. Ended up searching until December of my senior year, but it was well worth the wait.

Dude, if I were in your shoes I would not hesitate. It took me literally over a year to find my casa 6-sp with low miles (not even that low) and that has sport package, is a one owner, and isn't overpriced. I shipped mine from NY to UT when I found it, and it was $1200ish. When others hear about that car it is going to be gone in a second.

I will be selling my car within a month or two if you're interested. Just closing on a house and will need the cash.

She's an 02 with about 83,000 miles, but has a full bumper to bumper warranty until 100,000 miles or 8/10.

I won't be asking that much.

Why not? I almost bought a laser red 2000 with 56,xxx miles on it from the Manheim auction.

But to the OP: I have gone from a 1997 A4 2.8 to a 2001.5 A4 1.8T to a 2001.5 S4 (finally). I can tell you to wait until you know you've found the one you want. I got mine with H&R Coils (something i wanted to eliminate the stock 4x4 look), an APR boost gauge, and a near perfect interior. The previous owner also worked at Audi so the car was taken car of by a master tech for a nice portion of its life. The long wait and endless searching really paid off. I honestly couldn't be happier with my car. I'm 100% sure that I'm in love with it. Trust me, ITS WELL WORTH THE WAIT!!!!

Not sure if you definitely ruled out silver. I noticed this one in NY, which is certainly within driving distance from you.

I don't recall if you said you wanted one that was stock or not, but mileage is good and the price isn't bad either.

im considering other colors, but still firm on 01.5 or 02 model with manual, and more stock the better, don't want a car that's been running on a chipped engine =\ suspension mods are fine though, maybe even exhaust too

Just curious, is your A6 a 6 speed and are you selling it? If you are, shoot me a pm with details.

edit: I just realized you have your car for sale in the for sale section and i actually responded to you. Really wish your car was a 6 speed, looks really nice.

Yeah, well I had you beat just last year buddy... I got mine in December '07 with ~12k on her!!! That was, of course, until I had no choice to make her my daily driver . She just turned 24k last week and I'm dreading every mile of it

But to the OP, I probably had even tighter criteria than yours: I wanted ultra-low mileage (teens), Nogaro/Imola/Pearl ONLY, 6spdMT, sport package (w/ mirrors & seats), unmodified, and in excellent condition... I spent over 10-months searching EVERY DAY on about 15 different websites including the papers. I even tried a head-hunter for a while, but realized he was just finding what I had. And one day I got lucky and found my S on eBay. Needless to say, I finally had settled on all of the above except the color... Black was really my last choice, but I figured the mileage wasn't something I could pass up

The moral: Do yourself a favor and loosen up your criteria a bit if you plan on driving something "soon". And def. forget about finding something with less than 20k on it, unless you buy Devious' S4!

    Good luck
