    coolant leak/waterpump replacement..need help..

been experiencing coolant leak for the past two weeks now, pretty much got it figured out that I need a new waterpump..well brought the car in to get it replaced and got quoted over $900[O_O] for labor/parts, I know the repair and maintenance is up there for our cars, but this just seems a little bit too extreme for me...anyone know if this price is legit?

The shop told me that doing this job would require special tools and that they dont recommend me doing it myself...

yes it is very labor intensive. the whole front end has to come off, and then you can get to the water pump. might as well replace the timing belt and pulleys and whatnot. 900 is acutally not a horriable price. to my knowledge you dont need any special tools, but i wouldn't attempt this if you arn't very mechanically inclined

the job can be done in about 8 hours if you're handy with a wrench. $900 is a somewhat fair price i guess.
