They are all decent. I had the oppurtunity to hear the MTM and it sounds wicked. My buddy has Milltek. Based on what I've seen, I would say MTM if you can afford it. Milltek for the bang for the Buck. I saw an APR application and it looks like they have fitment issues.

Re: best exhaust for b7 s4?

It's a matter of opinion/preference more than anything.
You wont gain much as far as performance with a catback so most people judge by sound or looks.
I just bought the Corsa exhaust and will be installing it within the next few days.
I chose it because ive had their exhaust in the past and know they make quality products. I also like the angle cut tip design.

Here are some other exhausts to consider.

    APR
    MILTEK
    STASIS
    CORSA
    NUESPEED
    AWE
    LABREE
    FAST INTENTIONS

^^^ yeah, can you believe that? It use to be closer to $3K. Since the dollar is weaker, I guess it's gone up in price.

I just received my Corsa, haven't installed it yet. From what i've read on here, Milltek seems to be the most conservative sounding and also the most popular. FI seems the rawest sounding with everything else somewhere in between. Don't buy a CB looking for performance gains. Sound, look and price should be your concerns.

Re: best exhaust for b7 s4?

You can get a custom mandrel bent exhaust setup at certified muffler(dave) in coral springs.
    954-969-0222
I currently have a Labree full back system but did interchangeable custom straight pipes with Dave. Listen to the reccent dyno runs that were done at USP to sample a few different exhaust setups at WOT.

Re: best exhaust for b7 s4?

I have/had the Neuspeed catback , and it is a quality system , with nice sound not to loud. Last week I installed my AWE DP's and it is quite a bit louder. At idle and low rpm's it is very comparable to a catback, but in the mid to higher rpm's its quite a bit louder, and a WOT, it sounds like a race car, IMHO. But I do enjoy it..... I dont use the car as a daily driver.

Re: best exhaust for b7 s4?

Exhaust choices are relative to the type of driving experience you wish to have with your vehicle. I like to sound like i am at the races everyday thus the straight pipes. However, seeing and hearing the apr, milltek, and fast intentions systems, imho Labree makes the best looking and sounding system. The tips are rolled and beefy, and sound mean at wot. Certified muffler is using a new company for their mufflers and you should speak with Dave about the sound you will get from them. He used to use magnaflow, and i had a sytem done on my 3.0 before but it sounded a bit raspy(yuck).

Am I wrong in feeling like my stock B7 S4 exhaust sounds way too similar to these videos to justify the cost? I need to get with some local owners and hear some in person but from the videos I'm not hearing a big difference. Sure it's loud at full throttle but so is the stock setup. Seems like very small gains even with the loudest FI (from the vids anyway).

Thanks guys. Didn't mean to offend anyone or anything, was just trying to gauge if it's worth it since in the vids they do sound a little louder when they're romping on it but only marginally. Must just be hard to tell in the sound quality of the videos. I need to hear some in person no doubt.

"Hey new guy, welcome to audizine. I see you searched for B7 S4 exhaust and the google powered search we use came up with this (in your opinion) sub-par thread at the top of the search list. Here's a much better resource which doesn't show up in the first page of search but I happen to know about, http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...st-compilation I would much rather you post there because it's the one I posted on once in the past."

old thread corresponds to old products. Many, many threads on the subject and youtube is your friend. Most run fast intentions, magnaflow, or custom. The benefit has more to do with the power increase than sound, but all options are much louder than the pretty quiet stock set up.

There really arent many 'New" products pertaining to exhausts. Most run Fast Intentions because they are proven to be the best in performance. Plus the sound is great. Stasis was another favorite but they are out of business. If your looking for power 2.5 is the size you need. All that really leaves is FI and Magnoflow. Magnoflow can be had cheap (700 shipped i think) if you search hard enough.

Everything else to my knowledge runs a 2.25 . That is the same size as stock. So if you want minimal power gain but a better sound then have it. You can find Miltek (still in business) labree, Apr (billy boat rebranded). Im sure there are a few im missing but you get the idea. FI is the way to go in my personal opinion.

Does a 2.5 c/b make a measurable difference in performance when you are running 2.25 piggied stock DP's, versus a high quality 2.25 c/b system, all other things being equal other than diameter? I figure no, but do I figure wrong?

FI and magnaflow aren't the only 2.5" offerings. Labree still sells fullback exhausts for the b6/b7

If you are going to get a catback, get a 2.5" even if you have 2.25" DP's. When you upgrade to 2.5" DP's (or JHM headers), you will definitely notice the benefits.

FI is the way to go in my personal opinion.
not new, but plenty of old exhausts that are no longer available. Corsa, Stasis, etc. Doing research on products that you can't buy isn't exactly ideal. Sucks, because Corsa would be the way I'd go if they were still available. My FI is great though. Regardless - hard to go wrong. Never really came across an exhaust on the 4.2 that I didn't like the sound of.

I installed a FI this week and the difference is astounding. I am rapped in the tone and how the car breathes and now revs to redline which it never did before (Tip). 2.5” with 12” Resonators and X-Pipe.

    Can’t recommend it highly enough.

I thought labree stopped making exhausts for the car. Thanks for the info. And Blai i understand what your saying. But upgrading to a 2.5 is much more beneficial than going 2.25 if you ever plan on dong DP's which everyone should.

As far as DP's, I recommend FI (best option) or catless Milltek DP's. Just make sure you get rid of the neck down on the Miltek's if you get them. If anyone is interested im selling my Catless milltek DP's in 2 weeks for 500 bucks.
