okay so i buddy of mine who has a b7 rs4 wants to use my wheels for a show this weekend.. i have some OZ Ultraleggeras 19x8 et 35... now im not so sure on the rims size of rs4's all i saw was a 255 size tire.. so my guess is 8.5 or 9... the 8 inch ul's will be a little too far in for our liking... can anyone recommend a size spacer to give them that aggressive look we are looking for.. thanks

Oem rs4 wheels are 19x9 et 29mm, that said you probably need 6mm but they only come in 8 or 10 unless you go custom. If you need a custom set, let me know I may be able to get some but time is short.

    Alright, here you go:

    A stock RS4 wheel is 9" wide with a +29.

To Make the 8" +35 wide wheel sit in the same place as the stock RS4 wheel, you will need to make up for 1/2" of wider wheel. This is equal to 12.7mm. Then you will need another 6mm to account for the two different offsets (35 - 29 = 6mm). This will bring your spacing total to 18.7mm. Remember that I say 1/2" because the other 1/2" sits on the inside of the mating surface. It does not need to be in the calculation.

So that being said, if you get a 20mm spacer you will pretty much be sitting like a stock RS4 wheel. However, I just put 10mm spacers on my RS4 today to make it look more aggressive, If you want this look, which you do, you will need to add another 10mm to the previous figure. This will bring your total spacer size to 30mm.

Hope this helps. It's gonna look funny behind the wheel, but for show purposes, you should be able to get away with it.

Why would he want to do this??? Bigtime downgrade. OEM RS4 wheels are WAYYYYY better looking than OZ ULs!

I gotta say that the OEM RS4 wheel has got to be one of the best looking factory wheels ever made for a factory car. That and the CSL's on the on the BMW's, which are also hot.

If you're gonna do it, you might as well just do the 30's. 20's are not gonna give you a very aggressive look.

So based on this calculation, if I want to run an 18x8 with a +35 offset and have it look like an 18x8.5 with a +35 offset, I need to add a 13mm custom spacer?

Also, does it make sense to compare offsets when considering a wheel (and comparing against different wheels) if some wheels have positive offsets, negative offsets, or zero offsets. Seems like we're in a similar situation as comparing dyno runs taken at different times in different states.....nothing is actually equal. Please help me understand what I'm missing.

Put the wheels on, go to a tool store and buy a metric tape, measure where you want them in relation to the fender and have a set overnighted--don't forget 20 longer wheel bolts.

    If you want to run an 18 x 8 and have it sit like an 18 x 8.5 with a +35, the offset of the 18 x 8 has to be (+35) - (6.35mm) = 28.65 or +29 on an 8" wheel.

You take the additional width, which is 1/2", and take half of that figure, as half of the wheel is behing the mating surface and half is in front. So now you are left with a 1/4". convert that 1/4" into mm = 6.35mm. So if you had a 18 x 8 wheel, you would need a spacer of 6.35 to make it sit like an 8.5" wheel at +35 et.

Where can you find longer lug bolts for stock wheels?

What size spacers do I need to make my 18 x 8 ET 32 sit like 8.5" width and ~ET28 in the front and ~ET25.5 on the rear? 10mm for the fronts and 12.5 mm in the rear?
