Difference between the 2.0t's (A3, GTi, ect...)

I know the A3 and GTi's are transversly mounted but what are the internal diffrences.

I've heard the other 2.0's are capable of making more power on the stock block because they have stronger internals but can anyone confirm this?

i don't think they internals are different, but their cooling system is better/easier to upgrade (i heard) and that's why they are making more power

FMIC and SMIC's makes a good difference in keeping the temps down but thats not a big difference, more of it has to do w/ weight and drivetrain loss...

Aren't the newer A3's 2.0T going to available with quattro next year? If that's the case, then wouldn't it experience the same drivetrain loss as the A4?

Of the two cooling methods, FMIC and SMIC, which is the better method for the 2.0T?

FMIC is always a better option but it doesn't make much sense why they can make more power on the stock turbo iwth the same mods. Weight won't matter much on a dyno :)

Drivetrain loss will, though. I wonder how an FWD A4 MT fairs compared to the A3

Yeah but the drivetrain loss can't be more than 10-15%.

I'm starting to think it's just the aftermarket for that crowd has much more support which probably explains why there is hardly anything available.

X2, the B7 has been passed up lately on alot of mods. But I hear that a few companies are coming out with BTK's for us here pretty soon.

Kind of OT here, but how exactly are the longitudinal's in our cars cooled?

Dual SMICs, that huge fatty radiator in the front, wet sump lubrication system.

well, doesn't cooler intake temp mean they can have a more aggressive tune? that would make more power, right?

Thanks man, always wondered exactly how. A friend of mine said dual SMIC's, so that's what I've always thought, I just never confirmed.

If the a3 were to have all wheel drive, it would be a haledex which is normally front wheel drive until slip so there is little loss

the a3 will have quattro, but itsnot the torsen quattro available in the A4's and so on, so you are correct in that sense. however, the a4 is still heavier than the a3, plus the DSG is a beautiful thing that will soon move into the A4 as well. just from my experiences the a3's and GTi's just have more power I dno why though. My stage 2 vs my cousins stage 2 for example wasnt even a close comparison - although it was tip and quattro - even then it was just embarassing to race him

Dumb question, but do you have tourque steer with haldex systems in situations where your wheels are not slipping? I have only ever driven torsen and I HATE torque steer.
