You know what, that actually doesn't look bad at all.

For "winter wheels" or wheels to keep on till you've got the dough to drop on some BA wheels those look fine. I'd rock em.

Wow... im dropping my car and slapping on a boser so this just might be the temp fix i need for my wheels... im not gunna lie... that looks pretty damn sexy on the 17"... little small but a really good cheap fix

Can someone link me to a DIY for this?? and also yea what paint is that, i like that color...

Edit # 3 lol i think your car would look sexy if you blacked it out... black out the grille, sidemarkers, debadge, tails, and some lamin-x headlight tints...

    rattle can FTW!

When I was doing mine, I stopped right before I was about to lay down the first coat and thought to myself..." I am about to take a $3 rattle can and paint my $3000 set of rims on my back porch....am I nuts?"

Then I thought of how shitty it came out when i paid somebody to do it and I sprayed away!

yeah i think it will last as long as i dont drive through rough terrain like pebbles, dirt and shit like that..what i did was sand the wheels with 120 grit paper like my auto teacher told me too and took off all the clear...then i put bondo in the imperfections and sanded it down when it dried...and then i sprayed 1 coat of primer..let it dry put on 2 coats of satin black after letting the first coat dry..and the last part is the 1 clearcoat..
    heres the stuff i used
and dont bash on the supplies because they are very durable and i have alot of friends that used these products with out ANY complaints

    Re: Rattle-can Rims Outcome

it's not hard.. here is a diy and some tips..

    wash
    scuff
    wash
    primer
    paint
duplicate last step as needed. remember light coats that cover the whole surface. but that's it.
if you do enough coats, you can wetsand* also..
    clear

tips: use a good paint. i used Rustolem stuff and that seemed to work FAR better than the Krylon crap.. also, Duplicolor came out with a, from what i hear, good wheel paint..
instead of taping off the tires, use index cards all around. they are quick, easy, and give a great seal.. any overspray you get, can be washed off with some paint thinner..

*wetsand-take a very fine grit sand paper and with a bucket of water(with a bit of dish soap in it, but no suds) lightly sand the paint smooth. but keep the paper soaked so to not gum up the grit of the paper..

    good luck all

This seems like a lot of work for a cheap coat of paint. The paint is usually not whats expensive, its the labor. Prep work seems like a lot, especially if you have an intricate wheel pattern. How long on avg. is this taking all who have done it?

I think I am going to find a cheap set of wheels and get them sandblasted and powdercoated for $200. Then you wont ever have to worry about the finish chipping.

it took me a while, i wanted to make sure everything was perfect. i spent about 12 hours total on the project. i had ALOT of curb rash though, and i went to the only powder coat place in my area and they said they cant powdercoat over any filler, so you still woulda been able to see all the curb rash. i spent about $40-$50 on the entire project. i used engine enamel, not wheel coating and it seems really strong so far, ive washed them and scrubbed them and no scratches in the paint at all. overall powder coating was not the way for me because of all the curb rash, and im very happy with the outcome.

Took around an hour this evening to wash, sand, and wash again on one wheel. Painting it tomorrow(should take about and hour) switching the spare around and starting over again on another wheel. Im using 320 grit paper and taking off everything that is shinny. So I guess its down to the stock primer. Then im spraying black sandable primer. Sanding it with 600 grit paper, then using duplicolor wheel paint, and finally clear coat.
