I was driving home today and my car began to shift weird, especially from park to drive. there is a cel on the dash (not blinking) and the esp light is stuck on. I believe this is a problem with the Maf. what do you think. here are the codes I pulled.

    trans elec.
18265: load signal: error message from the engine control unit

    abs/esp
18265: load signal: error message from the engine control unit
00526: brake light switch-f: open circuit (sporadic)

    engine elec
16486: mass air flow circuit-G70: Low input

17545: bank1 mixture adaptation (Add) system too rich

do I need to buy a new maf or is there a quick fix for this?

nobody has any ideas? one guy on another forum said it might be because of the brake light switch. Does that make any sense to anybody?

Clear the code - does it come back?

Does it idle strange, or run very rich? How much soot is on your tailpipes? Unplug the maf and see if the problem erases itself...

If it does, then get a new MAF. Realistically you should have someone log the car.

it is shifting hard. I erased all the codes and cleaned the maf and started it up again and the code came back. it smells like it's running a little rich
