2.0tdi A4??

Does anyone have any speculation as to if/when it will come stateside?

For now at least, 2.0TDI isn't planned for the US Audi lineup, but it'll be available in the VW lineup.

My Audi Club magazine came in the mail yesterday and there are two articles on the B8 A4. Both articles state that the 3.0 TDI will be available this Fall along with the 2.0T and 3.2 V6 in both sedan and Avant. The TDI sounds like a real stump puller with 368 lb ft of torque and 0-62mph in 6.3 secs! no mention about when/if the 2.0 TDI will be in the US, too bad.

I pressed him on this and he categorically told me no-way on the basis that they won't meet NA environmental standards until they change in 2010. I have no idea if he's right or wrong and really hope quattro.it is right...I'm sold on the idea of buying a diesel.

I don't know why everyone is in such a big rush to go diesel. Enjoy petrol engines while you can, they might not be available/affordable in a few years.

Both the new 3.0TDI in Audi & 2.0TDI in VW are 50-state legal. The salesman you talked to is wrong.

6.3 for the 3.0TDI? That sucks. R&T drove a B7 2.0T quattro S-line to 60 in 6.5, and as we know it only has 200hp and 207lb ft.
The B8 2.0T is supposed to have 210-215hp and 230lb ft, which should drop it's time to around 6.3-6.4.

What's the hp rating on the 3.0TDI?
What about ECU tuning availability?

However, the new 2.0T will have more hp and much more torque. So, what happens when the ECU is modded in the NEW 2.0T?

The 2.0T B8 starts off faster than the 3.0TDI and both can be software modded. Lower RPM torque is nice, but high rpm torque makes it nicer still. I don't care much for 'peaky' low rpm torque engines.
The current 2.0T in my A4 is a bit peaky as the power dies much too quickly for it's near 7000rpm redline.

Perhaps I don't drive the same way as many of you, however I don't normally get above 4k rpms, so I'm indifferent to any differences after that point.

It looks nearly as bad, except that there is more power and even more low end torue. However, there is an increase in high rpm HP/torque and that's a GOOD THING. Better breathing means better up top performance.

That 3.2 looks good. It would be even sweeter with a TT.

I can't wait for the 3.0TDI. I want an avant b8 with that engine.

The A5 w/ the 3.0TDI gets 0-60 in 5.9sec and averages 39mpg. I WANT!!!!!!!!!!

That's great news. I'm prone to believing you over a car salesman...often times their product knowledge is thin and flawed. I can't wait for my chipped 3.0TDI...that thing is going to be a fuel efficient monster of a daily driver!
