    Painting Caliper Question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys....simple question. Could I paint my calipers with a high heat paint, 4 coats or so, and then paint it with regular paint and clear? I've painted my calipers yellow but the difference between my car and the caliper is too obvious. I have colour matched paint that I can re-coat them with but I'd hate for it to peel because of heat.....

    Re: Painting Caliper Question

No one has any ideas? Or is this just about one of the dumbest questions ever?!!!

Just a yes or no is all I need......I'm thinking the base coating would protect from the heat......

    Re: Painting Caliper Question

Not sure how any other paint would hold up to the heat. Whether it's base coated or not, I don't think it would last long. You could try and use the clear coat that's made for wheels, b/c it is design for more heat than normal, but I still don't think it would work

Give it a try and see what happens.

    Re: Painting Caliper Question

interesting. If I sandwich regular paint between the duplicolour kit and a high heat clearcoat, that might work. I think I'll take that route. That's a long time to be without brakes though. I'll keep you guys informed.

    Re: Painting Caliper Question

Calipers don't get really that hot to start peeling paint off. I seen brake calipers, with bondo to fill holes for looks and painted with OEM paint holding up just fine.

Really? Maybe he doesn't drive like I do. I'm pretty sure mine get hot enough that I can't touch them for at least 10mins after I good run/lap.
