    VR6 Theoretical Swap
It has been done in a B5-
will the adapter plate work with the 02X transmission, as the s4 still has a 01E trans maybe that would be the ticket, or go with the 2.8 5 speed.

the sub frame shouldn't be that different with the oil pan from 034. so no real issues there.

    here are some good questions
12v 2.8 - easy, cheap good hp with turbo
24v 2.8 better newer for engine swap legalities
24v 3.2 An Audi Engine (not really but still big turbo and hp options
3.6 dont really know much but it has 2x the displacement as my 1.8
and is an audi q7 and toureg engine

engine management with emissions hook up, prollablly easiest to swap entire harness into b6, or stand alone is easier with out emissions.

radiator? does the 3.6 have the same dimensions as the smaller vr6s, will it fit?

    so any ideas on this.

I have no plans yet but i would love the idea of a boosted 3.6T at around 650awhp, in a Black USP. I know cost vs gain is not viable but a 3.2 would be pretty easy i think, even a 2.8 to test the idea.

does anyone know the hp limit for the 02X transmission.

Any and all comments, lets see how far we could get with this idea before we run into a wall, money guesses and labor estimates welcome also.

lets keep it somewhat realistic though, no 1 million dollars. or tree fiddy

Our transmissions can hold 600+whp Mike hood is running a stock trans...

Anyway, I have thought about this also, I have heard that the 02+ 24V VR6 motors use ME7 also so I think that full harness could swap right in...

650+whp would put you $15k deep way quicker than you could realize ... Thats probably without labor too...

It would be a cool swap. I may do this eventually, VR6 motors are so cheap nowadays

FYI, 3.2 VR6 motors are going for around 5k.. that might not help

    Re: VR6 Theoretical Swap

well it is not gonna be cheap, but i would like to think it could be done with out turbo for about 5k. engine in, trans and running.

Maybe it would be better to start with a 3.0 so they have a better option than the s/c from PES.

Personally I think that the USP was lacking in ultra performance

    Re: VR6 Theoretical Swap

honestly your best bet is the 2.8 93-99 12v vr6. out of a passat/jetta or GTi. They are getting to be pretty cheap full swaps, you can get a full swap or donar car for 500 if you look. the rest of the management, tranny, turbo etc will be the expensive part.

If you want a VR6 to do the swap talk to Clint. He can get his hands on a few for you.

    Re: VR6 Theoretical Swap

I were to do this it would built in my garage till I could get it running, but i still haven't found a good answer on the 6 speed strength yet. I know that the 01E is strong(five speeds and S4 6 speeds) but 02X is not as well known, I don't even know if the adapter the 034 sells would work. I think so but it is not a definite. the problem with an earlier model is the emissions portion of the ecu, most states require that any swap if done has to be the model year or newer engine and retain all emissions related equipment.

so thats why a 3.2 would be my first choice but cost is prohibitive right now. I have a feeling in five years or less all of those 3.6 passats will be losing valve faster than the dollar.

    Re: VR6 Theoretical Swap

Emissions would be a sticking point since you live in a state that has testing. You could swap out the entire harness and then deal with issues on all your convenience features. Or go SEM and fake the ODBII, maybe.

I believe 034 has stated the tranny adapter will work in the B6. Do some searching over on Vortex. That's where I read it. Or call them.

    Re: VR6 Theoretical Swap

dude the 5 speed and 6 speed are the same transmissions except for the gears. You'll be fine. i would think for 5k you could have one running without turbo

Keep in mind that 034 makes engine mount brackets for the 24V VR not the 12V

to be honest though... I dont know why someone would spend ~5k to have 150whp... I guess it gives you bigger possibilities but from a cost effective P.O.V. its really not

    Re: VR6 Theoretical Swap

I would stay away from the 3.6 all together, the vwvortex has a thread dedicated to the catastrophic engine failures and causes... enough to keep me away... as for puting in a older gen vr6, that part would be easy, but being a corrado owner myself, the vr6 can get on your nerves trying to get it to run right. Get a super low mileage motor, make sure the chains, guides, and headgasket are all good, and make sure you have a tuning path. I personally would just customize a turbo kit for your 1.8t, I did that on my old GTI and it ran great with revo software. Just my 2 cents.

    Re: VR6 Theoretical Swap

I already have a GTRS setup with REVO, so im happy now.

    the 6 speed is a different code in etka- 02X 300 044
    5 speed is a 01A code and S4s have 01E trans

I know that the 01E is the strongest thats been proven, and so are the 01As,

either way the this is all hypothetical for the most part.

I just want strong power band like a jet, 3.2 and above with a monsterous turbo will pull harder than jet plane

The brackets made are for the 12V.

The Adapter plate works on all Post 1988 Audi gearboxes.

I have chosen not to answer VR6 swap questions on a forum because no one has done it,yet everyone knows how to do it and the misinformation just gets tossed around thread after thread.

If you need any information about the VR6 swap send me a PM and I will try my best to answer the questions for you.

    Thanks.
