    Buying a 01 Audi TT...concerns...

Hey there everyone, I am new to this site as of a couple weeks ago, because I am starting to love Audis and getting one myself. I recently won a bid on an 2001 Audi TT quatto 225 Roadster from an auction in the states. My mechanic who is also a dealer is taking care of all the paperwork and what not. I do however live in Canada and the car is coming up from Florida. Thus one of the concerns I have about this. Has there been any problems regarding having an american car brought to Canada and driving it around? I did hear that if it was being brought from the states it could mean that it is in pretty good condition considering that it has not seen a winter. It will be my second car and therefore will not be drivn in the winter. It has about 50,000 Miles on it, and I've been reading up on that timing belt/chain situation and my mechanic spoke to one of the mechanics at an Audi Dealership and they said you dont have to change it till 80-90,000 miles. But how much would you say it would cost to have it changed to avoid that "dont want" engine destruction?

Is there any other advice or recommendations that any of you have for me?
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated

I am looking forward to driving my Audi Roadster this Summer

Congrats on the car. I would change the timing belt at 60k just to make me fill better about it not busting. There is alot of talk as you know about that subject so just do it. Dealer Quoted me $1400-$1600 with parts. It is different everywhere so call around.

i got my timing belt done here in new jersey at an indie tuning shop for 750. not bad at all.

you may have a problem with bringing the US TT into canada because canada requires different bumpers for the car- so you may have to get them retro-fitted to pass the canadian inspection. that could end up costing you some money!!

there are a few canadian dudes on fourtitude that may be able to help with further import questions....
