Internal Motor Mods?

Once again I am new to this forum and still an infant about my knowledge of the the 4.2. I will spare you my long frustrating story unless you need to know but basically my (new to me) 04 S4 is in peices at my local Audi shop. The entire engine has been removed and disassembled to find a possible defect. Is there anything I can buy or change out while this thing is apart? Cams, crank? I haven't seen anyone do anything so maybe there is nothing? Just curious. Its been two weeks and I am going through withdrawls already.
