    New CF Trim!

I've owned my S4 for a couple months now and I'm definitely on board with everyone who says the interior of the S4 is second to none... I still get a rush every time I get behind the wheel - the feel of the leather, the great seats, perfect control layout, etc. The only thing that I think really needed to be improved upon is the trim. While I think the aluminum trim that came with my car is a better choice for the S4 than any of the wood options, it's still the weak point of the interior imo.

A couple weeks back I purchased a "B quality" set of Trim from Carbon Copy Designs after being assured that I probably wouldn't notice the "flaws" in the trim. I received and installed the trim yesterday, and I'm amazed at how good it looks. The quality of the workmanship is incredible - I've never see the OEM carbon fiber trim but I can't image that it looks better than this. I also can't tell why this is a "B quality" set of trim, though Winston says the weave is a bit loose in spots because it was from the last pull in the roll but like I said, I can't tell. I've attached a few pictures but they really don't do it justice, in fact the pics on the Carbon Copy Designs web page don't look as good as it does in person. Winston and Terry are great guys to work with and their product is amazing!

    Dave

    Re: New CF Trim!

I would love to replace my aluminum look trim with the C/F trim.

I was at the Audi dealership today, and on a new S4, under options it said:

    Carbon Fiber Beltline trim $400

I was going to ask the parts department how much it would cost, but I was on my way out of the dealership and I saw the car.

    Re: New CF Trim!

    DIY is on winston's site.

agreed though...i think the CF looks the best. winston puts out an excellent product without a doubt.
it will be a purchase of mine sometimes soon.

i will be throwing on my JHM rotors, ECS SS lines, Hawk HPS pads, Brembo 600F fluid tomorrow and posting my review of the product within a week or so of driving. it sucks cuz here in chicago it supposed to snow like a mofo tomorrow...and i'm driving on CONTI2s. i'll be lucky if i can make it to my appointment with that kind of snow.

I have OEM carbon trim on my 05 B6 S4, and it looks absolutely amazing. I would say yours looks about the same just my weave is a little bit tighter. I will post pics as soon as i get my car out of the shop. (they are fixing the drivers window and the headlights, ive been without my car for one week now and it is driving me crazy, especially now that I got my valentine1 in the mail and i have no car to install it on)

    Re: New CF Trim!

Clearly I'm in the minority here, but I don't like the carbon fiber as well as the wood trim. I don't think the wood trim is especially high-quality, but I prefer it to the aluminum and carbon fiber. It makes the dark, teutonic interior look too bright and sparkly! = )

    Just my $0.02

That said, you are right UberDave, the trim you bought definitely looks high-quality.

Man that CF is awesome. I'd love to hook that up for my Avant. I have the aluminum in my S4 and I really dig it.

Has anyone tackled this job on their own? No doubt Winston's work/product is great, but my biggest holdback has been the whole core swap in the transaction. There are quote a few vendors online to purchase the CF twill.

Oh, I didn't even realize until now that the carbon fibre isn't standard on every S4.

I bought mine right off the showroom floor and it just came with it.

But I'm sorry to say, I think OEM looks a little more refined, at least compared to the photos included here.

We have 3 different weights of the CF cloth. 6oz which is standard, 12oz which is chunkier and 19oz which is as heavy as you can get.

I have a set of 19oz coming for my car and I'll post up pics to show the difference between the 12oz and 19oz weights.

    Visually it is VERY noticeable.

Clearly I'm in the minority here, but I don't like the carbon fiber as well as the wood trim. I don't think the wood trim is especially high-quality, but I prefer it to the aluminum and carbon fiber. It makes the dark, teutonic interior look too bright and sparkly! = )
I have grey S4 bird's eye maple in my car for the longest time before I installed a set of CF trim. I'm not trying to pitch my trim but the CF pieces does change the feel of the interior of the car a lot.

Has anyone tackled this job on their own? No doubt Winston's work/product is great, but my biggest holdback has been the whole core swap in the transaction. There are quote a few vendors online to purchase the CF twill.
Well if you didn't want to do the core swap then just pay our core exchange fee and let us keep it!

Or find a inexpensive used trim set and send it to us for conversion.

seems like a secret for some reason. The VF Supercharger in beta is easier to price than this carbon fibre trim.

No secret on the pricing as it is stated right on the Carbon Copy Designs website.

    'A' quality trim is $700USD + shipping

'B' quality trim (when available) is $600USD shipped

There is a refundable $400 core exchange fee that will applied to those prices if you do not send us your trim beforehand. This is refunded when we get your old trim pieces back within 14 days of receipt of our trim.

If you do send in your trim first there is a $50 discount applied to the purchase price.
