So i just chipped my car, love it, didnt get a diverter valve, planning to. So here is my issue, second gear the turbo hits really hard and feels strong, if i am accelerataing fast and shifting past 5000 RPM's the turbo seems to not pull as hard as if i were to shift around 4000 is this because all of the excess heat and fuems are still in the turbo and due to the fact im running a stock DV it does not allow the fuems to escape? any thoughts??

This is because Audi blessed us with the K03, the turbo that can't flow for shit.

    Re: Confused!?!?!

its just because the stock turbo is tiny and doesnt have any power up top, im sure some of the BT guys will be in here soon and will have more technical info...but thats the gist of it.

a DV wont make your car pull hard past 5k, but you should get it.

yeah, its just since the turbo's small. powerband is lower down in the rpm range.

    welcome to reality!

when I'm goin' WOT I usually shift around ~5,000-5,500... no more power up there.

Bigger exhaust helps at the top as does better intercooler. I think that is the next step as you need them for BT anyway.

    I forgot about this phenomena

Still can't believe I drove my car for 4 years with that POS K03 set-up. No wonder it couldn't get out of its own way.

Adding boost above 5000rpm's to a turbo that is already maxed out is not going to do anything other than kill the K03 quicker.

    Re: Confused!?!?!

so, it'll be really fast... but only once.. and for only a few seconds.. lol....

i'm still k03 also... lookin to go apr 1+... lookin for injectors.. i kno i can pm the guy from this site and get factory 225hp tt injectors for 350, but i'm always lookin for a deal...

"ok....i found something else.... i went to rockauto.com. i get parts from there frequently and they supply usually oem items. so i looked for 03 audi tt 1.8t fuel injectors and found remanned injectors that are only $40 a pop. question is is there more than 1 size injectors for the 03 tt or what exactly is the spec of the car i need to take injectors from? there was no option for a 180, 190, 225hp engine on the site... if ya want to look, just go to rockauto.com, click on the big red button in the screen then check it out. they are only 30 bux w/ a $10 core. i just wouldnt send back my old ones since they are not tt injectors. is that something that is possible?? i understand that they are not new but they are remanufactured and bench flow tested and are in working order. what do ya think?"

I know. I'm sorry. I just can't believe I waited this long to put a 20 series turbo on my car. It feels now like it should have felt from the factory. And, I'm getting much better gas mileage than when I had my K03 (with a bike and 'coffin' on the roof). Well, if not driving like a bat-out-of-hell...

Because at 75mph (or other highway speeds) the BT doesn't have to work as hard as the tiny K03. I'm pushing close to 30mpg when I average 75mph with a bicycle on the roof and a huge cargo box and a dog in the trunk.
