    Stuffing 10's in the rear....

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello All,

I just bought my first Audi, a 99 A6 avant 2.8Q. I am wondering if anyone has stuffed 10's in the rear? I'm not worried about fender rolling heavily, stretching tires or major poke, not new things to me. If anyone has done this, can you please let me know what offset you were running? or is anyone has run something close? I dont have the car home yet so i can't measure anything up...

Also important: Is there a tolerance for rolling diameter that needs to be adhered to front to rear for all systems to work as they should with a staggered 8.5/10" setup?

    thanks!!!

    -Austin

Re: Stuffing 10's in the rear....

you can do 10 for sure, i have 9,5 and 1 inch spacer on the rear as of now, so i would say 10.5 will work too, oh and i have staggered, it all depends on overal wheel diameter then on the width....

Re: Stuffing 10's in the rear....

8.5 to 9 easy. 9.5 before you start to have any issues in the front. Like Andrey said you can go real wide in the ass, just make sure that you keep the rolling diameter real close on all four corners

edit. this also depends on your suspension

Re: Stuffing 10's in the rear....

sorry, i don't have any pictures but i'll do some asap...
Like Nothing77 (sorry could not find your name in the name thread) said, it all depends on suspension, i have H&R coilovers, the car is very low, and i was able to put 9.5 all around, basically i tried my rear wheels on the front, so i was about to put 9.5 all round but i could not find my rims anymore....
now i have 9.5x19 245/35/19 on the back(may look too euro for some people) and 8.5x19 with the same tire on the front.
here is the picture without spacers 45 tire on the back instead 35 that i have now, 35 def. looks and feels better.

Re: Stuffing 10's in the rear....

very nice, thanks! I have been looking for a set of used coilovers but have had no luck....whats the best place to buy new? I would prefer something as stiff as possible, as I plan on being in the weeds with the car.

how close do the tire's rotating diameter need to be? almost dead on I would imagine?

Dont mind Hoffy, he never knows what the hell he is talking about! Tirerack will only tell you about standard fitment for the most part. They have no clue about stretch or poke. If im wrong ill eat my words! And be shocked at the same time.

Freeze Plug - Good to see more slammed Audi's around here. Cant wait to see what you come up with..

stuffing 10's in the rear should not be a problem on a 2.8 with the right offset
I have 20x9.5's front and 20x11's rear but i also have the 4.2 with flared arches.

I have 20x9.5 rears and it's right about there - flushed with the fenders. I have ET43 offset in the rears, and it just clears the upper suspension supports.

For the fronts, I have 20x8.5 ET37. They cleared ok with the stock suspension, rolled fenders after the Eibach/FSD install. Clearance is good on all 4 corners now.
