limited travel on rear bilstein sports ?

Hello, I have grooved neuspeed bilstein sports with stock sport springs, 99.5 A4 1.8t quattro.

I measured and compared side by side the perch heights of the stock shocks and the new bilsteins where they were set at right out the box and they were pretty much the same, maybe a few mm difference, but close enough to call them the same.
So remembering that the front sat just a bit higher stock, as I hear is normal, I moved the fronts down one groove and the rears were left alone.

The car looks to sit level most of the time, depending on where its parked the front maybe looks a hair lower than the rear sometimes.

The rear is very limited though, it sits just lightly on the bumpstops, and the only compression there is the the compressing of the foam bumpstop until it bottoms solid. It can be felt while driving where small smooth bumps are absorbed, but larger sharper bumps are hit harder with a solid thud into the rear of the car.

why would you run your car so low that you are on the bump stops? raising it up 1 notch to allow some damper stroke travel would provide you a much better ride and handling.

Yeah its not that low, its sitting at stock sport height in the rear. The rear is on the groove it came set at out of the box, which matches the perch to the same as where the stock shock was.

edit - just measured it all around and its 26" rear and 25 3/4" front.
