    sprung/unsprung, rotational mass, lag

We can all agree that weight loss essentially= free horsepower, right?

I'm working out some plans, and am trying to figure whether the coilovers themselves fall into any of my equations. Are the coilovers SPRUNG or UNSPRUNG weight?

Next, is it reasonable to expect lightweight pulleys/flywheels/driveshaft, wheels/tires, 2piece rotors would help reduce lag from my Tial GT3582r?

I'm looking for weight savings anywhere I can find it without stripping the car down to a shell.
What are the big areas by which to shed pounds off my B5 A4?

The seats are manual, they don't look like anything heavy??? Stock hood -vs- CF?

As for wheels, I am having a hard time finding anything I like with a published net weight.
I always presumed that a larger diameter meant heavier wheel, lighter tire, but have recently learned that this isn't true. I think a 225/40/18 Pilot Sport II is my best choice, and a 8.5" or 9" rim is perfect for these, although a bit wider tire would be preferable. say 235-245, I'm just not clear on what will and won't fit right on these cars.
(19" costs way more and WEIGHS more)
Can anyone point me towards some good quality LIGHTWEIGHT wheels in 18x8.5-9" and point me in the right direction on plus size fitment for this platform?

I'm going full coilover+ Hotchkis sways -Koni, H&R, Tein... havent researched enough to make an informed decision... Bottom line is I can setup the suspension to "fit" anything reasonable.

Sorry for so many ???'s in one post, I'll appreciate any replies that you choose to address
    -Kyle

SSR are quality lightweight wheels and they publish weights on Tire Rack. As far as other weight reduction I would think a CF hood, lightweight battery would be a good start. I had a VW Corrado w/ a lightweight FW, it made a difference but it was supercharged not turbo. Here's a link for the wheels. Ask Mike Hood about weight reduction, he is doing CF fenders, trunk and so on.

Frimmel is selling his forged (forgiata's) OZ's that are light as hell in 18x8.5. Mine were 16.2 to 16.3 lbs a piece.

    Our seats are heavy

Your turbo will lag no matter what... changing components will have no affect on turbo lag

    Re: sprung/unsprung, rotational mass, lag

a LWFW will help a bit. you probably wont notice a reduce in lag at all. but you'll notice how much faster your car revs with no load and how much faster the rpms drop inbetween shifts(which is awesome btw)..

but pullies wont help. they've pretty much been ruled as a "negative mod" in many people's[reputable] eyes. so don't bother..

and coilovers, cf hood, lw battery, etc. have absolutely nothing to do with lag. it however does effect both how fast your car accelerates, and the top speed of the car

    Re: sprung/unsprung, rotational mass, lag

    THANKS!

That is quite possibly the best link anyone's ever given me

I am however having a real bitch of a time finding a wheel I want in the right bolt pattern/offset...
I wonder what it would take to convert my Audi to 5 on 114?
-definitely alot more choices available in that pattern!
