Hey all S4 owners just a quick question. I am thinking about replacing my A4 1.8 with an S4. Is it worth it to mod the S4? Can I get rediculous amounts of power from the engine or are the gains nominal? Just wondering if it would be worth the switch.

The way to get the "modded" HP and TQ that you want is to Supercharge it. The downside to that is you're going to an arm and a leg for it (maybe even your first born).

So pretty much, if you supercharge it, you're gonna need to get a tip and not a manual.

Check the latest thread about dyno. There is substantial gains to be had on the torque side and less on the hp. Still not comparable to mods you can do on a FI engine but the V8 growl is worth every penny.

I would've rather spent my money on suspension and/ore wheel/tire combos than engine performance...

rs4 transplant would be a lot of money for no point. the cost it would be to do taht in a local shp for a single customer would definitely amount to near buying an rs4, which is far superior to an s4 with an rs4 motor tacked in. go buy an rs4, if thats the plan.

If you can find a wrecked RS4 with a good motor and tranny what would be needed. How much of the RS4 would go into the s4 gauge cluster, Ecu etc. Also if this was something i would consider to do; i would do the work myself. What's the fun in paying someone else to do it. I never did like other people working on my toys.
