    Satellite Radio Box in Trunk

How do you remove the plate covering the satellite radio box in the trunk. I tried using a screwdriver in the small tabs on the bottom, but didn't have any luck. I want to try and avoid breaking it so I thought I would ask here.

    Thx for any help.

Youre doing it right. I just used a metal nail filer since it was thin and had a blunt end and poped it out. Didnt have too much resistance.

Just use two nail files or 2 small flat head screw drivers and push in and up...you can then pull it out from the top...the unit slides in on plastic rails...

I think he is referring to the NAV cover. You can't access the Sirius unit directly from that plate. You have to remove the whole panel to get at it if there is an existing unit there. If you are looking to put one in, the NAV bay will do just fine with the velcro tape.

I'm going to second this post in saying I have no idea how to get that panel off. In the Avant, it's a panel with two slots down in the bottom and no matter what I use it won't budge. Help!

yeah .. i ordered an xm satellite unit (red sox games) and I want to install it so there is nothing in there right now. I wanted to open it to see if the cable is in there or if I need to get one. I thought I read somewhere that the even if your car doesn't have satellite that the bay is wired for it already, so it should be plug and play.

    Thx for the help

Im not quite sure I follow. In my trunk (05.5) there is a hatch that opens and reveals a rectangular drawer that with something thin and blunt will pop it out and it slides out on rails. When I did this it revealed my xm receiver. Your car should be wired for satellite. Now you might have to remove more to find the wires. Sorry no photos, Ill get some after work.

Yeah that is an easy spot to get to. The cables a just inside that opening usually above the wheel well with some protective foam around the connector.

Good luck and I am hoping the Yankees spank the Sox tonight!

Your receiver was probably installed at a dealership and that is the "easy" way to do it.

When it is factory installed, there is a slot behind the left side trunk liner (adjacent to the rectangular opening) that the unit slides into. You can't get at that slot without taking the whole liner out!

Either way we are talking about the same thing!

Push the tabs in and slide it out, don't force it b/c its on rails that slide in/out. They need to be pressed in fairly hard to free up the door to slide open.
