    Car is Holding Back/I think?

I know this was already posted before but I cant find it and it was on a auto but lately my car feels as if when I let off the gas that it is trying to hold be back even when in on the gas slightly. I have a 97 manual but I don't know if its normal or just in my head or if it really is holding me back. It not a crazy drop but you can see that my speed is going down at a good speed. What should I do/look for? Thanks.

I have a boost gauge and holding pressure fine and the line are fine I replaced almost 50% of the vacuum lines so its good there. I don't mean the car is going slow when I step on it it goes but when I let off it feels like something Physically is holding me back and slowing me down.

How long have you been driving manual cars? Have you driven other manual cars? How long have you had the car?

Does the same thing happen in neutral?
Get a boost gauge and measure the vaccume @60mph in 5th. Should be able to sustain 17-19 vac.

In general this is normal. The engine needs to make a certain HP per the RPM's and Speed your traveling to sustain. More will accelerate, less will decelerate. An automatic generally will go into neutral or disengage the engine when you let off the gas.

But you could have a sticking brake pad or e brake or drivetrain issues, or engine problems.

Re: Car is Holding Back/I think?

Umm I have been driving manual for 2 years or so and I have driven about 3 different cars off my head that to my knowledge don't seem to do it as much. I took my brothers saab out right after I got home and it does it but not as badly ad mine does. My best guess is a sticking pad or ebrake. I'm going to take it out later and do a few test and ill tell you more than.
