Hearing this "Whirring" In the Dash

I'm not sure if my car has always been doing this, and I just started noticing it, or its really something new, but recently whenever i have the music low enough so I can actually hear this, I hear this mechanical whirring behind the dash, like something is automatically adjusting, its not the AC or anything because it does it when everything is turned off as well. Anyone else come across this or can let me know wtf my car is doing so I can stop worrying

I think I can hear the actuators/flaps of the vent system when the climate control decides to move them around. Maybe that's what you hear?

Re: Hearing this "Whirring" In the Dash

Maybe it's just my car but after I turn off the car, I'll hear a "power down" kind of sound coming from the air vents, or at least behind the dashboard/vents. It's a cool sound but I've never been in any other car with an HVAC system that makes this kind of noise when you turn it off. Quirky this A4 is indeed.

does it happen on any RPM? when you let off gas? cold starts? warm? a little more detail....

I had the same problem coming from the front, but only everytime my RPM drops to about 1500 or less.. and disappears. its a sign of a fuel pump going bad.

if its on a cold start and you hear a brief "rubber gear" grinding, its the steering wheel pump going out..
