lower my B7, help me out guys????

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
hey fellas, what drop do you suggest? inch wise that is

my B7 is stock ride height and has the stock wheels on, if i ever buy wheels they will be 18's, so with that said, what drop would look clean and still give me the space for the 18's in the future. Also...what brand and where to buy??

pardon my newb-ness but i'd really appreciate some professional feedback.

    thanks in advance

Re: lower my B7, help me out guys????

Depends on how much you want to spend.
If you are looking for the cheapest way out, go H&R sport springs. Will drop about 1.5-1.7" and will look awesome on 18's.
If money is not an issue, then go coilovers and you can fully adjust your height to whatever looks good.
There is alot of suspension threads on here. Do a search to find which route you want to go.
Best of luck on the modding... Be careful, it gets really addicting!

    I went with Eibach/Bilstein
the ride and stance is perfect for my 19's tho

you might want to roll with coilovers

if you are gonna get bigger rims after you drop I suggest coilovers so you can adjust the drop. or else wait till after you get your rims then get spring/shock combo

I feel like anything but coilovers is a waste of time and money...especially if you're not doing the install yourself.

Re: lower my B7, help me out guys????

I'm dropping on Eibach springs because I'll be running 19's and don't want to rub. Eibachs drop the least I think when it comes to aftermarket springs, but they eliminate wheel gap very nicely and are comfortable.

so we can just slap some springs and not worry about the shocks? will our shocks handle the drop?

Re: lower my B7, help me out guys????

I've heard that stock shocks can handle eibach springs since the drop is minimal, however I don't suggest it at all. If you're going to do it then do it right the first time. Spring/Shocks or coilovers.

Lowering shocks give you the looks but somewhat degrade handling.

I spoke over the phone with a rep at www.drivewire.com, and he said Eibach does not make a "pro system kit" (spring/shock package) for the Quattro A4, only the FWD. His reasoning was the B7 shocks are already semi-upgraded, and they will be able to handle the 1.2" drop easily and will not prematurely fail.

I'm not sure if he's correct though, because why would the FWD A4 have a spring/shock combo then? I'm pretty sure there is only a different suspension between the normal A4 and S-line (sport) package.

He also said Bilstein sports or Koni's will have the same height/travel characteristics, they are just more heavy duty and stiffer.
    Ignorance is bliss.

If you have limited funds, save up and keep your eyes open for a set of used coils in the classifieds. Springs will deteriorate your ride quality and will wear out your shocks prematurely. When this happens (and it can happen in as little as 10k mi, you'll have to buy shocks and do the install again. Do it right the first time.

This is what i'm getting put in on Wed. I'll post pictures for sure. I heard the H&R drops it a great deal more then what they say it does.

BTW-there is a CO group buy going on right now in the "groupbuy section"

i agree with u on the h&r's. with my 19's on i feel that the stance looks perfect. but when i slap the stock rims on, it looks like its more or a drop than they say.
