Alright, Ive been helping my buddy rebuild his motor since he hydrolocked it. Does anyone have any pointers on removing the crank out? Also, I just want to make sure that the sprocket needs to come off because we had the breaker bar on it today and it wasnt budging at all.

    Re: crank removal questions

Is the oil pump chain-driven (AWM motor) or driven off an intermediate shaft (AEB motor)? You will have to remove the crank timing gear in order to get the crank out if the motor is an AWM engine code. Not sure about the AEB motors though. Impact gun is your best bet for getting that bolt off though.

Its an 01 so AWM. So i just need to get the crank sprocket off then its smooth sailing from there? One more question, Do we need to remove the rear main seal? i know its a good idea to replace since the motors apart anyways, just wonderin if it needs to come out for the crank to come out.

Yeah, you're gonna have to. They are cheap to replace though.
