    Exhaust update

Ok guys here's what I've learned about removing the resonators on a Milltek res cat back. Not much changed. I'm thinking this is probably due to the mufflers they used on this set up and not so much the resonators. Does it sound louder? Yes but it still doesn't sound like the non-res set up. So I'm now thinking about changing the mufflers to Magnaflows or something like that to see how it sounds. I kept the resonator sections that we took out just in case that set up gets obnoxious. Anyway, just an update for those of you that may be thinking of doing the same thing. When I get a chance, I'll be posting some sound clips of the set up as it stands now.

If you removed the resonators, then you have a non-resonated system. It has to sound like a non-res setup because it is. At this point, if it isn't loud enough for you, then go with a set of dp's and not another type of muffler.

Yeah that's what I thought and why I did this in the first place, but it definitely doesn't sound like a non-res set up, at least not what I've heard from some of the clips on youtube. I haven't had a friend do a drive by or film that for me yet so that'll be the real test. In any case, when I do that I'll post some sound clips. Then you can be the judge.

If you remove the mufflers, then you pretty much don't have a Milltek system anymore. Only Milltek piping. I think if you're going to do that, you should just remove the whole thing, sell it, take the hit, and get the system you really want.

You're correct and that has crossed my mind. Still much cheaper to just make it custom though. And btw, the system I really want is going to be the system that sounds the best to me. If I go out and spend more $$ on a new non-res cat back for example and it ends up sounding just like what I have now....OUCHY!!! Again, the real test is what it sounds like outside. I have to have a friend do a drive by for me.

    Re: Exhaust update

Would you sell the mufflers if you remove them? I may try to get a custom set-up since it would be cheaper than buying an off the shelf unit. Only thing is I want the dual tips of B7 mufflers rather than the single B6 tips.

    Re: Exhaust update

I would sell them, but after driving the car some with this set up, I realized it really does sound sweet now. I guess I was expecting more of a dramatic change. And to ngng - I would have bought DP's long ago but no one has convinced me yet that I won't have an issue passing smog with those here in California.
