    Re: unindentifiable noise!

no idea how to check engine mounts.......they don't really go out. But if you ruled out suspension, and this noise only happens on bumps.......could be them.

-check your steering rack. Pull off the plastics that cover your battery and brake fluid. Look on the bottom for two 10mm 10 point bolts. Make sure they are tight. That could be the cause of your noise. The rack hitting the bottom of the battery area.

What!? Motor mounts go out all the time. I would check that along with the snub mount, the mount in front of your engine, and the bolts on your control arms. If bolts are loose, it can always cause a banging, especially on bumps.

You made it out like they never go out. It is an older car, and yes they do go out. Do some searching and maybe you'll learn it's pretty common.

check out what happened to mine:

fixing it did reduce the amount of clunks in my front end some

btw, I didn't break it, and surprisingly it drove pretty damn well with it broken
