    Car seems sluggish...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have an 08 A4 2.0T 6spd Quattro, after I hit 1000 miles, I had the 93 octane GIAC chip installed. For a while, the car was a dream. Didn't take much to get that extra power.

Now, the car just seems sluggish, especially on the low end. I really have to mash on the gas to feel the power. I have about 1700 miles on the car now, still haven't gotten that optional 1000 mile oil change yet. I checked under the hood for oil splatter to see if it's my PCV, but I didn't see any oil residue.

Any ideas? Maybe the PCV just hasn't deteriorated enough for the oil to leak yet?

    Thanks guys.

DV should give him a CEL.. or not. Should be the DV though specially after the GIAC flash.

    Re: Car seems sluggish...

If it is the DV, is there a way I can check it? Or is there anything I should look for that would tell me that it's my DV? Is this something I can fix or get fixed under warranty?

    Re: Car seems sluggish...

It won't be under warranty because of your GIAC. If it is your DV that's causing it, upgrade it with a Forge DV.

    Re: Car seems sluggish...

it'll be under warranty if u have a flashloader, which allows you to switch your car back to stock mode. dealers generally won't care if they don't FEEL the chip, not to mention chip companies claim their products are "undetectable".

    Re: Car seems sluggish...

Or that. Flash the ECU back to stock. But then they'll put an OEM DV on there, program back to GIAC, and it'll be sure to happen again. Probably not this soon next time, but hey..

Forge is the only one I've heard of for the 2.0T thus far.

    Re: Car seems sluggish...

the revised dv's will probably last longer. plus why spend the extra dough when the car is under warranty. i'm sure most of us won't keep the car very long anyways

Well, supposedly my dealer is "mod friendly." There are 2 Audi dealers here in Columbus, I'll call both and find out and set an appointment. If I have to, I'll reflash the car to stock.

Doing some searching, it appears PCV is an issue with cars that aren't modded. DV...well, we'll see what happens...

    Re: Car seems sluggish...

If it is your DV see if the dealer will replace it under warranty. If not, its a $63 part (G version) on ECS Tuning assuming you want to remain stock. The forge kit is $225+ and will definitely not appear stock (nice polished part). Link below is for ECS in case you need it.

By the way, what was your impression of GIAC? There is definitely plenty of power but I've not been overly impressed with the driveability. Its tough to drive in stop and go traffic as the turbo spools much quicker and you feel more of a surge. It even appears choppy at times. The stock file is really smooth and a nice improvement over OEM. Might have to run stock during the week in rush hour driving; save the performance file for the weekends. Just my 2 cents.

OEM DV from ECS (middle of page):

    Re: Car seems sluggish...

Your ecu might be in limp mode. First thing to do is go back to the shop that did the GIAC and have them check it out. I'd do that before you buy a Forge DV although that is still a good thing to do with chipped ecu.

    Re: Car seems sluggish...

What do you mean by "limp" mode? Also, I think I'm going to replace the stock DV with the latest OEM version G. Not sure I want to wait for my original valve to go south. All my work is done at my parents in another state and I won't have the facilities here to fix it if it goes.

    Re: Car seems sluggish...

I have an OEM DV for sale if you want it. I sell it for 45 dollars, it has only 3000 miles on it - stock. No wear at all. Let me know and we can work something out.

If you get a solid CEL but then it goes away could it still be the DV?

Yes to the DV, but also could happen with failed PCV or Breather, could be a lot of things.

Mine also did this with a failed low pressure fuel pump.
    Mod lists are weird
