    Driveline Shock...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So, the car is fully loaded with 4 people in it. I am at about 65mph and give it about half throttle, it builds about 2psi of boost in the meantime... at this point I decide to let off a bit and give it quarter throttle... as soon as I do this it feels as if a shock goes through the driveline..almost as if I tapped on the brakes when I really didnt...... whats going on here? I try it again but then its smooth... It almost feels as if the turbos are surging or something, like maybe the bypass valves are not opening up with a light throttle let-off. Its smooth on the other hand when I accellerate hard and let off completely.

    Any help will be appreciated.

Condition of car: Vag shows no codes, no CEL, already pressure tested, bayley bpvalves with about 4000 miles on them, stock turbos, giac x with milltek turboback.

    Re: Driveline Shock...

I have the same issue starting to happen again. The first time it happened to me it ended up being a boost leak. My TBB was torn in half, but now I'm not sure why its happening unless have a leak elsewhere. I need to get a boost gauge so I can see if anything might be a problem.

    Re: Driveline Shock...

Sounds like the usual B5 drivetrain wear and tear to me. The DTS, stiffer than stock tranny and engine mounts, and the snub mount all help quite a bit to get rid of the play in the drivetrain, but at the end of the day, there will probably be a little bit just from wear and tear.

    Re: Driveline Shock...

I have been doubting the condition of my EGTs for quite some time... why do you think it might be the EGT sensors? I dont think its mount related myself. It feels as if there is a surge in the powerband, almost as if the turbos themselves were surging due to lack of recirculation. It only does it when letting off slightly.. (for example three quarter throttle to one quarter throttle) If I let off completely its actually smoother.

Have you had this problem before and found out it was a rich condition caused by your egts?

    Re: Driveline Shock...

Yes, I experienced the exact same symptoms on my car before. No codes/CEL either and it turned out to be one of the EGT sensors that was causing it.

    Re: Driveline Shock...

You can log the EGT's and we'll know if they are causing a rich condition.

Have you pressure tested the car?
