Low Oil Level

Hey guys I was on my way to Jersey when my low oil warning came on, I drove it for about 6 miles until the next rest area and put some oil in. I noticed that smoke was coming out where the oil goes in. Is this normal? It has been about 5k since my last oil change, could that be the cause of this oil burning issue? Any input would be appreciated

yes...

you just poured oil into a hot engine, its gonna smoke a little, especially if you spilled...

question is, how much smoke?

Was the level actually low? I've found that a)my sensor is messed up or b)some crud is getting on the sensor and messing it up because every time the light comes on and I check it the level is fine. I put some valve cleaner in it and the light goes off. Usually happens when it gets closer to having to change the oil. Room temperature oil poured into a hot engine will give you smoke, yes.

I have also had my oil level sensor freak on me a couple of times, and level was fine. Also had the oil pressure sensor freak once. I guess it is crud building up. Time for an oil change
