Radio Locked out HELP!!!

Here is the story...Replaced my battery Radio went into SAFE mode...
Didnt have the code in the book...so called Audi of America..they told me in the spare tire well there is a tag in there with a 4 digit number...tried that...no good...read manual and said you have 1 more chance before the radio goes into lock mode...was told that on sticker placed inside owners manual had code on bottom 4 digits....Wrong info again....Manual says you have to wait with radio on for 1 hour and key on...meanwhile I called an audi dealer and the service advisor was really cool...he said pull Radio out give him AUZ number and vin#..He got me my Radio code...Tried to get radio back in the mode to enter my code and I CAN NOT GET IT IN THAT MODE>>>>LEFT KEY ON WITH RADIO ON FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR dealer said that as well...Tryed several times...even driving it for a while....connected VAG COM ....found memory loss code...but believe it was from unplugging Radio...cleared code..never came back....WHAT CAN I DO KNOW?...Has anyone ever had this problem?...ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.....Thanks

According to the Operating Instructions to the Sound System Symphony:

* Turn on Radio - the word SAFE appears in the display

* Press the P.SCAN and RBDS buttons simultaneously and hold them down until "1000" lights up in the display.

* Release buttons

* Use stations button 1-3 to enter the code number on your radio card. Use button 1 to enter the first, etc, etc, etc.

* Once the code is shown in the display, press the P.SCAN and RBDS button again simulataneously and hold them down until the word SAFE appears in the display

* Release buttons. Soon afterwards, a frequency will be displayed.

Next time, go through ALL of your manuals!

next time before you pull or disconnect power from you battery, make sure you power the radio OFF... Then when you reconnect power, and turn your radio on you dont need a code... it powers right up like normal... I do that all the time and i never needed a code..

Figuered it out on my own....but Thanks for those of you who tried to help and read the thread correctly...If any one has a similar problem getting in pass code mode,,Check to see if any of your buttons are stuck in the pressed position...Mine was and when I followed the directions in the manual and pressed the required buttons the other button was also pressed...so it would not go into the code entry mode.....
