whats the proper way to break in clutch?

I am having my AWE stage 2 clutch installed right now. I've read about breaking in a new clutch before abuse, but what is the correct way to breaking it in?

Approx. 500 miles of city driving, you know, stop and go. Don't do any power shifting but you can give it full throttle once the clutch is fully engaged.

my AWE stg 3 with LWFW just went in last week. Just baby it for a while like running in a new car. Just dont launch hard. FYI, the awe and lwfw feels alittle like an on off switch, clutch feels stock, but biting point is nice and low, slip the clutch a little and there is a little judder, but this should go away with time.

mine went in about a month ago.
so far so good -- i drove the SHIT out of my car during the last month (2000 miles lol) and it seems to be holding up alright.

i did launch it once and it didnt like it too much (as in smoking clutch) and that was after 1500 miles of break in, we'll see if it gets better over time, im trying not to hammer on it till the BT goes in.

in the clutch's defense, that was a 5krpm launch while still getting used to it completely... so i probably dumped too much with not enough finess. (the stocker took 5k launches like a champ the 2 or 3 times i decided to do it)

    love the lwfw though

    Drop it like it's hot!

But yes, for a normal wear pattern, take it easy on engagement for 350-500 miles. Avoid "Hot-Spotting" the flywheel.

Re: whats the proper way to break in clutch?

awe states that their kits need 1500 miles of break in. supposedly they wont warranty the parts unless you wait 1500 miles... but idk how they can tell if you drive gently for 1500 exactly. i did just in case though. hahaha

Re: whats the proper way to break in clutch?

i just got a southbend stage 2 with LWFW and ive got 860 miles on it. i can already feel a difference in the pedal and its a much better engagement then the stock clutch. i deff recommend the LWFW. it will only make noise (chatter) under 2000-2200 rpm. if your chuggin it and its making alot of vibration you probably are in to high a gear anyway! its is truely and difference in the way the motor responds to throttle though

Re: whats the proper way to break in clutch?

It really comes down to personal prefrence. Some say 5,000 miles while others say 400miles, and i say it does not matter, once you put it in it is good to go. I abused the everliving Sh*** out of mine as i left the shop that put it in. Now I have put 35,000 miles on it and all is well.
