Help, coolant hose (pics included)

Hi,

About 4 days ago my car started to get really high temps. I notice this not because of the temp gauge, but by the white smoke that was coming out of the engine bay. When I opened the hood there was smoke comin' out of the intake also!! The engine oil light went on. I check the engine oil, it was at a perfect level. What damage can this have in my motor? I start the car yesterday and the motor sounded normal.

Today, finally found the damage, and need some help where to get this coolant hose...

Looks like the top of your thermostat broke off.

the thermostat and the hose should be 2 different parts. local parts store or the dealer.

You can only buy the entire thermostat housing. I think its around $100 US.

Judging by your first picture the upper hose is probably okay. I think you just need the thermostat housing. http://www.genuinevwaudiparts.com/pa...=5&catalogid=1

What coolant are you using? Should be using Audi/VW G12 coolant. Its pink in color.

yeah I always use that... but the thing is that when I had to stop on the highway because the smoke, on of my best friend had some of the regular/cheap coolant on his trunk and I had to used it.

when I fix this I'm goin' to flush the coolant.

i agree, you only need the thermostat housing. the hose is still there (along with the clamp)

The temp sensor you are referring to is in the back of the cylinder head. Not the one on the thermostat housing. If the sensor in the back of the head goes your car will start running super rich amongst other things. Replace it with the sensor that is green in color.

First off how, did the thermostat just break away?

(Side note) Did anyone ever get there money back from AoA for the ECT sensor? I sent them the bill I was charged to get it replaced!

no idea... this was the last thing that I expect to broke.
