pressure test questions

on a 2001.5 s4 when doing a pressure test with the awe Intake Pressure Tester , do i put this on right at the Y tube ? and is there anything i need to dissconect ?

Take off the acordian hose, and hook it up there. Then on the Y pipe, there is a tube going off it towards the firewall, you need to cap that off. Also don't foget to unscrew your oil cap.

ok got the hose blocked off that goes to fire wall , oil cap lose , when i start filling it up with air , air is comming out as fast as i put it in . is it suppost to build up with pressure ?

sounds like comming out the turbos

Spray soapy water all over then put air in it and observe for bubbles.

If air sounds like its not holding pressure, and its coming from the turbos, its prolly the fitting that goes to the charge pipe on the turbo. Mine did this same thing a while back and this is what it was. Sounds exactly the same.

couldn't it just be leaking through the exhaust valves? I did a test today on mine and it was holding pressure but slowly going down. we just asumed it was leaking through the throttle body and out the exhaust valves.

Does anyone else hear bubbling sounds coming from the oil fill cap area when you pressure test?

well i belive its not holding any pressure and going right through the turbos . are you using the boost gauge to check the pressure ? and where is this fitting , is it a hose with a fitting ?

well no bubbleing but there in pressure in there becouse i can feel it if i tightin the can just a little

Did you set the pressure regulator at about 30psi?

yes...you should hear this (if there isn't a big leak somewhere).

only do it up to 15. dont wanna put too much air through or you'll EF things up !. when i do mine, it holds all the air and sometimes the thing off the Y pipe the actual tester itself will want to come off.

I think people think that the pressure testing is like filling up a balloon and listening for a leak. Its not really the same thing. Your are passing pressure through the system, not filling it.
