    Limitations of factory clutch?

Well I thought for sure I'd never go BT, thought it would be out of the money I wanted to spend...but after much reading I'm 1/2 convinced I can do it.

Already planned on Stage 1+ program w/ injectors, ebay FMIC, custom exhaust and ebay test pipe. So not I figure if I can do a GT28RS turbo that uses factory exhaust mani I'd pretty much be set with my other mods.

The clutch is my main concern...I know most suggest to upgrade but through some searching I've read threads of people sticking with the factory clutch with this similar setup. What do you guys think? Not trying to break any insane HP numbers and I AM NOT interested in building my engine :)

If you're running your factory clutch on a BT setup or know anyone who is let me know!

BTW, car has 52k w/ original clutch.

The factory clutch simply cant hold that type of power.
Much like the brakes wont hold that type of power either

My 6 speed has 55k miles. 6k with 1+ 93 octane program. My clutch slips slightly as the turbo spools, on really cold days, when she's running strongest. Get a quality clutch.

    Re: Limitations of factory clutch?

I ran 1+ for 6 months and have been APR Stage 3+ for over a year on stock clutch.
My clutch hasn't really slipped yet. A lot is in how you drive. Engage fast, rev match on downshifts, etc.
I am upgrading, don't get me wrong, because I wanna do some pounding at the track, but nonetheless, it CAN be done.
Of course, I'm original owner of car and I've put less than 5k miles on car since I've gone Stage 3+.
If it were daily driver and I rev'd to 5K at every red light before dropping..... then, ummmm, no...
My 2004.5 APR Stage 3+ is SOLD

not to thread jack but what about being a 2nd owner with 65k on it and going to 1+? clutch seems to hold pretty good, havnt noticed any slipping. i dont launch my car at all or track it. i do accelerate fast from a stop though. but i always try to match RPMs the best i can when shifting.

    Re: Limitations of factory clutch?

from everything I've read during my searching a stock clutch is fine for a 1+ setup. I don't know that I've read once about a clutch slipping with just 1+
