Need Some Help. I had painted all my chrome trim black but it started peeling

so i sanded it down again. I didnt sand it ruff just with a brillo pad (like a sponge brillo type of thing). Is there any way i can get buff it with polish and get it to go back to a chrome or a nice brushed alluminum look? Thanks guys..

I used a Dremel recently to do some polishing work on the trim. Put on a little aluminum polish and attached a polishing disk and went at it. Took a long time and a good amount of work, and that was with mine already polished.

I remember posting up a while ago that painting your ALUMINUM trim NOT CHROME was not a good idea. Even if you sanded it down and primered it. Aluminum has to be powdercoated/anodized otherwise very properly prepped for paint to actually bond and stay. The only other solution I can think of is to just polish out your trim so that it's back to its polished ALUMINUM glory.

This is my new plan, Buy blackout grill from ecs, paint roof, mirrors, rear valence, black. Install my door blades, paint trunk trim quartz to match car and polish the window trim with chrome polish.

You need to make the window trim black again somehow or else the "chrome" wont match the blacked out look.

The metal properties are very different, last thing you want to do is to screw up a part of your car due to a silly error. Or in this case, just plain ignorance.

i just dont think people really think of it that way they just say chrome cause it looks like it and comes to them first not cause they actually think its chrome put simply not giving a $hit but this "problem" will never go away so i guess get used to it
