1- What "does"???
2- I do know a thing or two about wheels but I never claimed to be an expert.
3- Last I checked, RUF used 28mm and 32mm spacers. I've never heard of RUF 55mm spacers (they're actually made by H&R) but then again, I don't claim to be a RUF expert.
4- I never said unsafe, I said "compromise handling"
RUF used 28mm and 32mm adapters with their wheels to increase the offset for widebody cars, mainly Turbos. I think RUF is an outstanding tuner (I've been to the factory and have driven both 993 and 996 Turbo Rs). I also think they make the best looking wheel for Porsche but the fact that they would put a 19", 32lb wheels on a performance car makes me question their judgment on wheels.
The bottom line is that overly wide spacers or adapters place higher than normal vertical loads on spindles and bearings which can result in shaking or floating at high speeds and could be a hazard, not to mention cause premature wear of bearings. If you take a RUF car to a PCA track event, the car will not be allowed to run with RUF wheels and adapters.
And how do I know all of this? Well, I've owned eight Porsches and I've owned numerous sets of wheels that have gone on those Porsches and I've also participated in various track events. When I was a noob to Porsche ownership and performance driving, I used spacers and adapters because I wanted to fill in the wheel wells and because I wanted to use wheels that were not designed for my car and I quickly found out what driving with a 32mm spacer at 170MPH feels like (not fun). IMO, small spacers (sub 10mm are okay if you must have that bling factor but anything larger will compromise handling as per my original post.
So, I don't know what your qualifications are beyond having a picture of an 800HP RUF with 55mm spacers but these are my comments based on my knowledge and experience with which you're welcome to disagree. Now, do me a favor and don't bother responding unless you check your grammar and spelling because otherwise I'll have to assume you're a nitwit and ignore your post, okay?
