Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've heard that you can bake the head lights to soften the epoxy then rebake them to reseal them after painting/removing turn signal cover...

is this true? if so what temp & how long?

thanks in advance for the help

200 degrees for 10 min here also on Maxima headlights. I actually have the light gray butyl that is used to seal headlights. Got it when I split my Maxima headlights. If you want, I can mail you some of it or if you want an entire roll, I can pick one up for you.

    Re: Painting head-light housings

Just in the process of doing my headlights I am almost finished with the first. I opened it by using 200 for about 8 min. Opened really easy. Now im taking it apart and painting all the internals black. will throw up some pics when done and maybe a DIY. Should look good.

I opened my headlights before and it only required 150 degrees for 5 minutes.

    Re: Painting head-light housings

putting them back in the oven for 8-10 min is definately enough to reseal. There is a lot of silicon that just softens with the heat and there is plenty to reseal if done right.
