Very nice job. The only thing I noticed is you arent supposed to wax/seal a new paint job until it fully cures which deing on manufacturer is up to and over 60 days.

Re: NEW DIY: How to Prep and Paint a Bumper

the time to wait to wax depends on the paint, the temperature, humidity etc. it just needs plenty of time to get plenty hard, which can take a long time. when I did mine in the middle of the summer, it was baked in the heat at nearly 100 degrees, so it quickened the curing a good bit.

Well, worst case scenario would be that the paint was still releasing gasses and the clearcoat will cloud but thats unlikely. You may notice down the line that the clearcoat is a bit softer than it should be though.

You do not want to use and soap for 30 days either, your best bet is to break out the buffer with some polishing compound.

Youre making me want to paint my lowers and usp front myself. I have a compressor but Id have to get everything else so I dont think it would be cost effective.

sure it would... because realistically, after you buy the shit you have it forever

I would rather spend money on supplies and tools to do the job myself, then pay someone else to do it

its more a matter of if you have the time and patience to do it as good as the paid labor

I was thinking about that myself, but also, what else later on down the line could you use that setup for

I'm sure after just a few uses you would get your money's worth.

    Excellent writeup!
