Help! Eddie Man and FatAuto mod gone wrong!

Well, I don't know what I was thinking when doing this, but I accidentally cut wire 1 and stripped it, thinking it tapped into wire 2. Well, now I don't have enough wire to connect the two newly cut ends of wire 1. What can I do?? I'm not an electrical person; I don't even know how to solder "correctly"!

Should I buy some "butt connectors" and some extra wire?? If so, what gauge?

    Here's the DIY: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=124534

    Thanks!

the wires are very short so you dont have much wire to play with. I just added a couple inch wire to them and did it that way. i forget the size, but its prolly 20 gauge
