    muffler advice

hey guys, i have stock exhaust on my ride and don't want to buy a full exhaust. Anyone just replace their mufflers? If so, who should i go with and are there downsides to this approach? My main goal is improved sound of non-stock exhaust and possibly a small performance gain. Is this feasible with just replacing mufflers?

you're right they don't my guy had to slightly angle the tips. If you look closely from certain angles, you can tell but i think it looks pretty good. I actually didn't know this until it was at the shop and i got a call that he could do it but it would take a bit more time. Can u tell from the pic?

Yes, just replace the mufflers with some performance mufflers like magnaflow or borla, I have a B6 and i got magnaflow 14851's on mine with stock piping. Find the number for the B7 and get those. But dont just put them on alone because you wont be happy with the sound output. In the center where the pipes for each of the dual mufflers meet, there is a 3rd muffler that actually does a lot of the sound control. While the people are cutting off your stock mufflers and welding on the aftermarket magnaflows or whatever, have them cut off that 3rd muffler and just replace it with a y-pipe that connects the 2 dual mufflers. With that done, it will sound real good. I made the mistake of not having it done because I didnt know about it. Now i'm gonna get it done within the next 2 months. It really is a simple job, they just cut off that 3rd muffler that takes about 1 min once the car is on the lift, then weld together a y-pipe to replace it, and weld it on.

yea you can't even tell they just look like straight tips to me. I ordered the quad oval vibrant tips and I found out that they couldnt do it when I was at the shop getting it done. I was so pissed. So I ordered some 3.5 inch tips from vibrant, do you think they will fill up the s-line valence well?

3.5" tips are fine. I have 4" and my S-line valance hugs 'em perfectly.

yea 4" look pretty good...will 3.5" do the job though and by doing the job I mean will it fill the valence well enough so that there isnt a nasty gap
