    New S4 owner

New to this forum and Audi and had a few questions. I want to do a few performance upgrades and needed some advice. To be honest the car does not pull as well as I thought it would so i want to know what I could do for around $3.5-$4k to give it that little extra kick. I was reading about GIAC and APR ECU and could not get a definitive answer on which was better. The car is a 2005.5 S4 TIP. My thoughts are to go with a chip, intake and exhaust. What are the typical gains for HP and torque when doing those upgrades and are the gains that noticeable. Also how hard is it to take off the front grill?

    1.Welcome
2.i would do the Giac chip flash and millteck exhaust and dont waste your money on a intake you can get BMC or K&N drop in filter stock intake is better.
3.My guess on total gains in HP is around 35hp, and 38 ft-ib.
4.Yes you will notice that your car is a beast now hahaha
5.i dont know how hard it is to take the grill off maybe someone on here can help.

Yes, I know I should have gotten a manual. However the wife does not see it that way( she has kill the clutch in a jetta I had back in the day). It was going to be a automatic something might as well be the S4 :-).

    Re: New S4 owner

I think S4's are awesome cars no matter how you cut it, but if you do some searching you'll learn that the gearing is not set up as well for acceleration on a tip compared to a manual.

The automatic 335i/xi, however, is geared better for acceleration than its manual counterpart.

I still think you made a good choice, just not totally performance oriented.

    Re: New S4 owner

there is a huge diference between tip and manual on these cars. i wanted tip for the same reason but power loss was too much for me. with ecu flash main gain is going to throttle response. hp gains are very minimal. for exhaust you will have to go full back if you are looking at power gain.

    Re: New S4 owner

I checked with a local shop and they wanted $400.00 to install the millteck catback. Is that a bit much for a catback install. So if i understand you correct a full exhaust would be the better way to go for performance gains? Thing I like about the giac is that if I'm not happy i get get my money back. What kind of gains should I see with a full exhaust system? Thx!

That's too much. Look around you should be able to have a catback installed for around $200

I got a quote of $80 from an indie shop. 4 bolts and hangers. You could DIY if you have stands and about 30-45 minutes.

$375 for dp and cat back install. they are charging you too much. in fact, just do the cat back yourself.
