Locked Keys in Hood... HELP!

So after a day of Triumph and driving around, I go to check my oil and put the keys on the intake manifold while I check. I forget they are there and drop the hood... and the infamous BEEP! happens...

WTF should I do

PS I dont have a front bumper but I dont have tools either theyre all in my trunk

Get a spare key? or just a get like hanger and try to fish for it.

If you can get a long screwdriver you might be able to pop the hood latch if you don't have the bumper in the way.

Is your jack in the trunk? Find the tallest guy you know have him reach up from below, preferably not where all that transmission oil is all over the ground..

Well I accidentally closed the hood without reattaching the hood release cable to the pull lever inside the cabin.

So we used a long screwdriver to pop the latch that is holding the hood down. I didn't do it myself but it did work to get the hood back open.

UPDATE:

Ok, I can see the key, its wedged right next to those little rubber things that control how up/down your hood it when it shuts... When I try to lift the hood it locks my car, so I know its pushing the lock button... Im gonna see what I can find to try and get it to switch to the unlock button

i did that when i was trying to get my new hood to line up. Luckly my headlights where not in i was able to slip the hood lack back into place.

Sorry that doesnt help you much. You could try calling AAA if you have it?

Give AAA a call and have them unlock the car. If you don't have AAA, got a friend with AAA?

Future reference you cannot just pull on the cable latch...All it is, is a black plastic coating (covering the cable inside( ... its the cable that moves...

I had my hood-release-cable come off after doing my timing belt. I can attest to the fact that if you pull out your grill (you'll likely break at least one tab) you can unbolt the hood-latch from the hood. you need a small wrench and you'll scrape up your knuckles, but it works.

Clint. I took 9th out of about 20 of us. Raced the singlespeed mtb with all the geared guys :). Got the hole shot at the start and held a 50ft gap through half of the first lap. Then realized I have 4 laps to do and couldn't sustain that pace for 2.5 hours. Now time to change the avant's oil and take off the turbo to replace the mani studs.
