sooo my car will not turn.... OFF!!!

hey ive seen lots of "my car wont start...." threads, but how about a "my car wont turn off?" ?????

just the other day after doing a few start and stop trips (looking at new houses), we stop at the last house, turn my keys to off, and the car keeps running. all power stays on, everything. driving down the road icould jsut pull the keys out and it would keep going. only when actually driving it would kick out after going for 10 secs or so. however when sitting and idling in neutral it will not turn offf.

so ive resorted to pulling the fuel pump fuse when i need to turn my car off. so then i go away for work for a few days, the car sat the whole time, fire her up no problem. turn it off (after warming up a bit) and it turns off. however after a few start and stops throughout town, my problem is back...

sooo anybody got any ideas? im stumped. all i can thinkof is a short in my ignition or something. i really hope this isnt gonna turn into one fo those stupid problems that isnt a big part to replace but hours and hours of diagnosis and shit.

maybe a bad ignition cylinder or wiring under the steering column is shorting out.

youd think it was a turbo timer, but i dont have one. my buddy and i had a good laugh about that one when it first happened.

Under the steering wheel. Pop off the trim surrounding the cruise, wiper switches. Take off the airbag, steering wheel. Scrape off the red paint covering 2 screws, remove the electical connector, replace electrical switch.

ignition switch...most of the people that chime in on here helpe me out cuz i had a faulty one....make sure you get the 2001.5 one...it has a white piece to it...the fuckin dealership gave me the wrong one...i tried ghetto rigging it by using the white piece off of mine and putting that on the new switch...it was still too big...so i ended up taking apart mine and cleaned off the copper connections...pretty much good as new...imma still replace it once i get a chance
