Advice for aftermarket Navi [Pioneer Avic D3

Im looking into getting the Pioneer Avic D3 unit, it has all the features I need and also can light up in red to match the interior. Some questions:

1.) I have a 2006 A3 with the single din unit... the hazard switches and business car holder are on top... I know I need a newer unit with the double din section, that has the hazards, and card holders below the stereo... where could I find one of these? Is the dealership the best place? Will I have troubles with the wire harnesses or are they all the same between years and the single unit versus the double unit.

2.) What is needed to make the steering wheel controls function with this unit? It has to be possible.... any advice is appriciated.

3.) What is the best looking most OEM looking dash trim kit out there for aftermarket double-din units.

4.) Any suggestions other than the Pioneer Avic D3 unit?

5.) Which ipod cable is recommended and will it display the playlists and song titles, etc on the screen?

I think thats is for now.... and advice would be appreciated, ive been searching many forums and havent found much. OpenSky could you chime in? I know you have the same unit. Thanks in advance everyone!

well see I have the audi nav and I wanted to swap to an aftermarket nav as well and the problem is that in the center screen in the dash it tells my secondary directions so i dont have to look at the nav as I drive, the problem is that if I install an aftermarket nav there is really no way to make that function as well.
