some help with a CEL Code

got my first CEL in over a year today. Scanned it and came up with P1177 which is something about Fuel/Air metered something.

Anyone know what this code means? Is it a failed MAF? O2 sensor? Vacuum leak? I'm confused.

If i remember correctly it could mean a bad CAT... and/or a bad rear O2 as well?? Please correct me if I am wrong.

I used to get this code then I gutted my cats and all gone :)

^ Brett's right. Sensor or Cat, likely the latter.

Well, you can't really "replace" the cat as they are part of the downpipes. You could cut it out, and weld a new one in. I'd say check the classified and see if someone is selling stock or gutted downpipes and just swap it in...

Re: some help with a CEL Code

i already do have piggie pipes, my friend did them for me the week after I bought the car in sept. 06....never had a problem with them before....since thier piggie pipes does this mean there is no cat? i would just get under the car and look but i live in an apartment and my lift is back at my parents home.

Re: some help with a CEL Code

i just cleared a code for a o2 sensor about a month ago after it came on because i was going like 140 on the expressway. CEL has not come back on since then. could be carbon build up thats what i figured mine to be. clear the code and see if it comes back in a few days, sometimes electronics are dumb
