i think i liked the wheels better before....

i guess im biased just because i dont like black wheels. (gunmetal is a different story however.) maybe i'd like it if your lowers were painted.

either way -- good job on both mods. (quality-wise haha)
and like you said -- start trolling the classifieds looking for some used coils.

I think it looked better before but it's your car so it's about what you like.
I do wonder about the durability of rattle can paint jobs...they tend to chip after a winter and seems a shame when you had a set wheels with a good factory finish on them already. Just my 2 cents...not trying to bash your taste.

Liked the chrome around the grill better before and liked the wheels silver better. Funny if the grill was black OEM guys would buy a chromed up grill like crazy. Cause it's chrome they paint it black. Guess we always want the opposite of what other people have it seems...

Did you use the specific paint for wheels? I did on my oem wheels, using gunmetal. The paint started to chip after a few weeks, and I did quite a few coats. I hope your wheels don't have the same issues...

Re: DIY rattle can rims and DIY blackout grill *PICS*

For the wheels i used Duplicolor engine enamel Low Gloss Black, Primer, and Clear. The thing is that you cant see is the old wheels looked like shit close up, i mean really bad. i shouldve taken closeups of before. there was TONS of curb rash on all four wheels, and so much road tar that i had to use a copper brush attached to my drill to get it off. i got a glazing compound and filled in all the rash and sanded it down perfect, theyre like brand new wheels now! as far as saying that id want a chrome grill if mine came black stock, i gotta say no on that one, i like the blacked out look. i dont know if im gonna paint my lowers even, i think all the black from the trim and my rack compliment the wheels and lowers like they are. thanks for the feedback, keep em comin! also, i think now it definitely suits my style better; before it looked kinda like a girls car to me, lol. now much tougher!

    The car looked 'cleaner' before.

Black out grill + chrome in headlights don't flow well. Blacked out wheels look nice, but draw more attention to the wheel gap.

I like the direction your going in, but a few things need to be addressed to clean up the car so it all flows well. my suggestions would be coilovers, painted lowers, ecodes, and tint.

i think i'd be more of a fan with a blacked out grille and the silver wheels. still looks good overall though, nice job!

100% agree with you, (about needing a few things, not about the car being cleaner before) i need the dollars though but its a start, they are all on the list. the list goes in this order......

    1) coils
    2) BBK
    3) exhaust
    4) lowers
    5) ecodes
    6) tint

man, when i put it in a list it seems like so much! haha, i love it!!

Hey jojoampt, i take it back...a few more looks and its growing on me. Perhaps if you tinted those tails it would just set the car off. Doesn't have to be jet black, just take off a bit of the "HEY LOOK AT ALL THIS RED" in the tailight and its golden.
