why would it damage the windows? if you remove your tint you can't even tell it was ever there.

It won't damage the windows. The glue is a pain to take off if you ever remove the film though.

Re: is tint bad for the windows?

The only chance for damage is (1) using dull razor blades (2) hastily removing tint from rear window and cutting your defogger strips. You need to soak the tint carefully and remove the excess adhesive very carefully on the rear windows.

Re: is tint bad for the windows?

Tint won't harm the window at all. I've peeled tint off that was 6 months old before (my first car) and it came off in one piece with no glue residue.

If the tint is old it might come off in chunks which would suck, and the glue either needs to be scraped with a blade or else you can scrub it with a soapy rag.

    No worries, tint is harmless.

What damage did you think it would cause?...you obviously thought of some issues and that's why you asked....

Roll down the window a tad, pick at a corner with your fingernail, then just grab it and slowly pull down diagonally. Make sure to do it all in one fluid motion, because every time you stop it will make a line of glue you'll have to scrub off.

There shouldn't be any nasty stuff for you, and it should all come off in one piece. Just have a soapy wet rag handy to scrub any residue you might have afterwards.

Takes maybe 1 minute per window, it's really easy unless the tint is cheap or it's really old. Definitely do it yourself, and worst comes to worst you can just drive it somewhere with glue everywhere and have them clean your windows... anyone can DIY I think... it's easy as delicious caek.

    That's what I was thinking...

cmoe, do you realize that if you put two layers of 3 percent tint on that it is letting in less than 1/10 of a percent of the light from the outside the car?

Re: is tint bad for the windows?

I had a friend do 15% and 5% over it, and it was nuts. No seeing inside the car at all, and sitting in it during the day felt like a van with no windows. It was REALLY hard to see out of at night, and he had to roll his windows down at every intersection. It's not worth it lol

Make sure you guys are getting good quality tint. There are people that do "side jobs" but use cheaper tint, and that stuff doesn't hold up over time. Shitty stuff from Walmart turns completely purple in under a year, and other crappy tint starts getting really hazy/blurry after a year or two.

Re: is tint bad for the windows?

If anything tints will prevent the window from shattering all over your seats and floor and in all the nooks and crannies if someone was to break in to your car. It would definitely make it more work for the thief to break through with tints. Get tints.

"I'm used to it" doesn't cut it when you're sharing the road with others, people who get a ridiculously dark tint deserve to get caught.

cmoe, I think you're being kind of ignorant on this subject, but that doesn't matter. The fact is, I am looking out for your safety and we are all trying to steer you away from another bad decision. I know you get used to tint a little, but it still greatly restricts your vision. I don't want you to get fined for very illegal windows, I don't want you to waste your money, and I don't want you to unintentionally cause an accident that could have been avoided. Chill out man

Nobody was calling you names until you started freaking out and defending yourself, we were just giving you advice. Quit being a poop head.
