    need a clutch

Ok, so I am looking for a clutch for my 2.8. After 120k (30k supercharged) I think my clutch is about to give up the ghost. Car is daily driven in DC and blown right now. So I want something driveable that will wear well but that can take a beating at the track. I have plans for big power in the future. I have pretty much settled on a Spec 2+ or Southbend 3. I like that the spec has a higher torque rating. I will probably forgoe the whole LWFL as I spend half my time driving slogging around under 2500 rpm and don't want to hear the chatter (unless someone can convince me it wont be that noticeable). I am open to recomendations one way or the other.

Finally, anyone aware of any good deals on this stuff? Thanks in advance.

you can barely hear the chatter over and exhaust. You can go either way on the LWFW. I like mine. I would skip the spec 2+. The southbend stage 3 is good. Slightly stiffer pedal over stock. The stage 4 is pretty stiff but after an hour your are used to it.

    Re: need a clutch

Unfortunately southbend only goes up to stage 3 on the 2.8 (rated for 430 ftlbs). The spec 2+ is full faced and rated for 550 ftlb. So that plays into my decision. I am also considering going with an S4 fidanza flywheel and other clutch, but I need to double check the fitment first. Also, I dont mind a stiff pedal at all. Its the on/off feeling I want to avoid.

I was under the impression that the problems had been resolved long ago. No?

It's one of those things where something bad happened to a few people years ago and other people who haven't actually experienced the issue themselves keep relaying the message over and over again...

    Re: need a clutch

i've seen it in person twice. The face of the material came off the clutch disk completely. Spec did not replace it under warranty. My friend switched to southbend. They other one was in a jetta where it lost a rivet.

    Re: need a clutch

Ok, so any ideas of where to get a good deal on the southbend?

Btw, I feel like such a noob asking this question. I have seen so many of these threads. Searching didn't help much though regarding deals.
