    Exclamation Aftermarket Headlights

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Could anyone point me in the right direction to getting new headlight assemblies for my 2000 S4. All i have found are a bunch of OE replacement designed for the H7 bulb (NON-HID). I am looking for an OE look or after market headlight assemblies that will fit my factory HID equipment and give me a great "beam cut-off". I would rather not spend the 500 or so on OEM replacements.

eBay has a ton of ricerish after market headlights but some just look like crap and others i worry about the beam cut off for my hid bulbs, since i think most of those assemblies are made for the H7 bulb. Anyone have any input to this?

what is the main reason the ebay ones are crap? i really can't shell out that much money on headlights right now. i was hoping somewhere around 300 for both. OE are 450 a pop...

if i was to get the ebay ones, would i have to replace certain parts within them from my old HID headlight assemblies? can anyone link me to depo (?) headlights that i could use for my factory HID balasts and bulbs? Is there a write up anywhere? Tell me what you guys did.

    Re: Aftermarket Headlights

the ebay ones have very crapy sealing from my reading on the subject and the lenses are not that great.. and the wire harnesses are just junk.. but could depend on which ones you get too

the depo are your best bet for clear corners and a good look

really i think you could probably take apart your stockers and put parts into a set of ebay ones tho

why not get some halogen ones and swap the plastic lenses? wouldn't that be cheaper and you can do the cc mod at the same time.

    Re: Aftermarket Headlights

well here is the problem, my drivers headlight is destroyed. small accident that killed (cracked and chipped) the plastic lens on it. I haven't inspected the internals yet, but i know it still works fine. passenger side is fine, but i want something to replace both of them with.

    Re: Aftermarket Headlights

Well i would need both headlight assemblies if yours is different from the US spec stock HID headlights. Dunno where i could find the passenger euro code assembly all on its own to match yours. So the solution to my problem is to just get the depo headlights for about 300 bucks, use some of the existing HID components i already have in my factory HID healights, and call it a day? now where can i pick up these depo headlights???

I got lucky and I found mine on ebay, But there around .... Make sure you order H7 HID bulbs allong with the housings, Your going to have to splice the wiring to the Hid Connector. But otherwise its a pretty straight forward swap.

    Re: Aftermarket Headlights

If i was to swap the projectors from my OEM HID headlights, would i just use my current bulbs? i am trying to achieve a good cutoff, i am worried that putting HID bulbs in a halogen projector is gonna give me crap visibility. How did yours come out with the H7 HID bulbs? how is the cut off? and brightness? any pics?

    Re: Aftermarket Headlights

hey man, you should check out the thread a few up. IMPORTVISION.com sells the Depo's 300 dollars. you will need to buy an H7 HID kit with them since its a halogen setup. But they work GREAT! love the ecode pattern its identical to the "real" ones. i would never spend 650 or whatever it is on the headlights when these were 300 and they work amazing.

    Red face Re: Aftermarket Headlights

alright i am reviving my own old thread. the driver's side HID bulb finally went (we have had some serious rain in the last couple days) so i need a solution fast!!! to summarize what you guys told me, my options are as follows:

    1) buy depo headlights (importvision.com, anywhere else????) = $300 + H7 HID kit from ebay - $50, so both = $350

    2) buy an oem replacement driver's side assembly for $450 + $100 or so for HID bulbs ~ $550

    3) buy e-codes for $500 atleast!! + $100 for hid bulbs ~ $600

Which is it gonna be, i need it done right and ASAP, i'll be doing the work myself, but i am looking for great light output, and nothing ghetto rigged. someone guide me through this??

    The APC of germany.

I looked at that auction. I dont see any mention of depo on it.

If you like the look of the the things its a good deal. The FK quality on headlights is like DEPO, not so great in the past, much improved now.

I wasn't thinking of getting these so don't attack me gr4hm. I just bought ecodes from a member on here and am sending payment tomorrow morning.

Just thought I'd add input to a thread about aftermarket headlights. I stayed on topic, no?

LOL, but you will spend $300 for knock-offs plus another $200-$300 for an HID kit thats worth a damm [ w/ warranty??], plus installation to achieve the same results? Granted, not everyone is a DIY'er or really cares about the quality of what they are installing until they are scrambling trying to rectify broken or faulty parts.
