not a chance. I had a Z and I used to smoke some 2.0T when I had it. I had the 05 version with 287 HP with some mods to put me around 315 HP. The 06 and up Z have 306 HP. Your 2.0T doesn't stand a chance

I raced a homie of mine with 1.8T. He had mods like Greddy intercooler and chip as well as some other stuff I dont remember...but it wasn't even really close.....

remember the 06 and up Z have 306 stock ponies. Max torque is around 6700rpm.

Of course. How much money you got? A guy in Europe has a 1000hp Avant drag car. Anything can be beat with enough $$.

A K04, fuel pump, FMIC, race gas, and lightweight wheels would probably do the trick.

I am pretty sure with a big turbo and a good tune you can beat a Z happened to me. My friend has a 500 wheel HP

Yeah, I'm sure it was "tuned to hell", and was hell expensive too.
But, put that same money into the Z and it makes the A4 2.0T look even slower.

Some 2.0t guys here are hitting high 13's with just chip/intake/exhaust...

I say race him if he is stock. If you have some decent mods on your A4 and can launch it good, you'll definitely get the head start and maybe even win. There's also the chance that he can't drive it perfect so he might run a little slower too.

This can go either way. My A3 Stage 2 annihilated a stock 350z. I mean it wasnt even funny - i was also running near 23psi with the revo and it was pretty cold. however, I have owned a 350z and a G35 with every possible bolt-on aside from turbo/sc like another member here stated. however, there seems to be a big variation between Z's. My 350z was a factory freak or something cuz it would just pin you to the seat like no other and I had some fun w/ some m3's and stuff. So it all depends on a few things, driver, transmission and the motor it comes with.
Keep in mind the FWD of the A3/GTI/A4fronttrak plus the DSG's in the vdubs and a3's...

Same here, I've run several of the VQ cars from rolling starts just to mess around and it's pretty dead even until about 100mph. I can't speak for anything past that because it's never happened. This includes 350Z's, G35's, etc.

A buddy with an auto G35 can't shake me, and we've done LOTS of runs.
This is all from a rolling start of course - my FWD will eat up too much tire and bog down otherwise.

And I can put a tuned RS6 motor in my car that will have no problem keeping up. That thing is so crazy, it's not relevant. I bet it's fun, though.

It is TQ that makes your car quick not HP, even a chipped 2.0T has less HP but a lot more usable TQ under the curve; both cars will be quite equal.

Have you driven one? BTW, don't drive the automatic. That car NEEDS to be driven with a manual for easy gear access .

It's our 2.0T that lacks torque given the weight we carry (about 3550lbs curb weight).
If you're anywhere under 2300rpm, in any gear above 1st, in our 2.0T there is VERY little going on. And, yes I have a 6spd manual and ECU tuned.

So, when you say from a "rolling start", I can't imagine what speed you would be using to say that the Z has no torque.
Yes, it's an engine that like to rev, but it also has some very nice torque down low, and it comes in more linear than our 2.0T.

The Z isn't that heavy for it's market, especially since it's true competition is quite slim.
Here are some curb weight numbers: These are close as different options have different weight like auto/manual, power seats, etc..

350Z- '03 base models were about 3225lbs, newes '07 model is 3340lbs.
New Accord coupe- 3400lbs
New Mustang GT- 3600lbs
Altima coupe- 3300lbs
G6 GTP coupe- 3487lbs
Eclipse GT- 3545lbs
BMW 335i RWD- 3571lbs
G37- 3620lbs

A4 2.0T quattro 6spd- 3550-3600lbs, not a true comparison but this thread brings it.

The Z is actually on the "lighter" side compared to cars it competes with.

Indeed, but usually if you have a lot of money... you wouldn't be buying an A4 just to tune it up. You'd be getting an A4 because it serves as a good daily driver so you can keep that Ferrari/Lambo/Maserati/Koenigsegg/etc. in the garage for those once-a-month weekends.

I would do it

An older Z MIGHT be beat off the line with a great A4 driver with a great tune, and that's because of AWD traction advantage.
The problem is what happens once you really get going beyond that 1/4.
The HP, lower weight of the Z takes over.
And, the newer higher hp Z is even faster still.

Plus, you have to spend a good deal of money to get that A4 2.0T to keep up with let alone beat the STOCK Z.
